I recently attended the MAR (Mid-Atlantic Rally). It was a great event held over a long weekend. I met some fantastic folks and learned quite a bit.
I did hear the term 'Land Rover elite' when I parked my LR3 near some of the more senior LR's.
My LR3 is basically a stock vehicle - but I do have a winch and some under body protection. Folks at the rally were amazed when I went on the trails with the other Disco's.
I was curious if any other folks on the forum have run into other LR owners who don't view the LR3/Disco3 as a capable off road vehicle - but more of a bling SUV. 2007 LR3 HSE - Zermatt Silver

just take a look at dicsoweb.org here in the US for a whole bunch of people who don't appreciate the LR3. It is the same as when the DII came out, or the Defender.David

I was at MAR too. Too bad we didn't meet up mzaver!
Yup get it all the time when going out with new folks, plus I am only a girl after all People change their opinion some as they witness the LR3 in action though. I'm not so good at giving advice...may I offer you a sarcastic comment instead?
It's the same here for a lot (not all) who drive defenders and series vehicles. They tend to disregard/disrespect/ question the reliability of the D3. Jealous IMHO.Have a nice day!

And the same here!
Not all D3's are 'Chelsea Taxi's' (School run buses, if you are not familiar with this term).
On a recent green lane run in Derbyshire several people stopped and asked if I was really taking it off-road after seeing the mud splattering
Even managed some rock crawling (see my gallery).
I was with three Disco 1s, two Defenders and a Series and all, I am pleased to say, were well satisfied with the way the D3 performed.
It's a VERY capable vehicle both on and off road Discovery 3 XS Auto, Stornaway, Active rear diff.
