JLR are now saying that as long as all tyres are matching then there isn't a problem. This goes against what they advise us as a consumer to fit.

I've managed to get hold of Topix JLR approved used standards which clearly states that any vehicle under 5 years old must have tyres which are JLR approved oem standard. I have again contacted customer services and now await their response
In the meantime I have also contacted Stratstone to make them aware that I have seen a copy of the approved used standard.
If no action is forthcoming would trading standards be interested as I have purchased a vehicle on the basis it has gone through the approved used checklist?

The approved used standards document just happened to drop in my lap when I recently did someone a favour. Even the appropriate section was highlighted

Would it be possible to post the relevant section on here please or pm it me as I have hit a dead end with my attempt to get them to deal with this request?

I've just amended my post, first link should work if not follow the instructions. The approved tyre matrix is in the free to view section under owners information/accessory fitting.

My experience with Stratstone is not dissimilar to yours . I bought a Jaguar XF Portfolio S from them that needed high performance tyres when I went to pick it up they had put Federals on when they should have been Dunlops. They refused point blank to change them and had a very unpleasant verbal confrontation with the DP who backed the sales manager and took the same approach that they only had to be legal. Three of the Federals split within a few thousand miles and neither Stratstone nor Federal would do anything about it other than accuse me of underinflating them. Needless to say I wont be buying from Stratstone again, I am sure many other people have good experiences with them but mine was deeply unpleasant and unnecessary.

ISTR someone bought a D3 from stratstones and complained that something wasn't up to LR Approved standards, they were told the car was up to Stratstones Approved level so LR's standards didn't apply. Might have been tyre related as well.

If the vehicle was over 5 years at the time then that might be the case. A lot of the approved policy doesn't apply over 5 years old and is upto dealer discretion.
