Does anyone have the Front and/or Rear Lamp Guards fitted?
At a glance they look like they offer protection from nothing but the largest rocks, or am I missing something? Is there actually well hidden perspex or similar fitted into the visible frame?
None of the dealers I've visted have had them available for close-up inspection so I'm going on what I've seen in photos

To me they look like a metal (plastic even?) frame only, Neil can you tell me different?
Cheers

Hi Slimer
yes they are made of a very tough plastic, there are fitted to bracket behind the headlights and rear lights which can be removed if needed, they are not like some of the old LR's that were screwed into the winds etc, this design can be removed and not trace they were ever there.
Hope this helps
Ps i just had them because they look good.

Neil R - does this mean you don't have to drill the front wing then?

Neil,
Is there any actual protection against grit, gravel etc., or are they just a plastic frame with nothing in the gaps?

Has anyone fitted lamp guards themselves? I've looked at the instructions and it seems a lot of work, including removing the both front and rear lamp units themselves. Matt

I've fitted myself, easy peasy, rears are touch harder, they are purely cosmetic and do all against flying stones etc.
Can't see what protection they offer, look good though

I was only going to put them on for the looks. I saw a silver D3 like mine in a showroom in Southampton and it was fitted with steps, door strips and lamp guards and it looked great. Hence, I want to replicate it. Matt

They are a total waste of money if you are looking for protection. Very easy to fit thou just cosmetic.
The rears will damage the paintwork as they are extremely tight to the bodywork.
Stop looking on e-bay for bargains

I didn't even like the D3 that much until I saw one in Maya Gold with side steps, door strips and lamp guards. It looked so good that a week later I'd swapped it for my D2 and a huge financial commitment

What? A LR dealer took your wife in P/X? What's his number? Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana

Just for looks, not for sports... |

I can't think of a darn thing they would protect against, but they sure as hell look awesome. My .02.
