Ladder Fitting

I'm in the process of fitting a ladder to the back door (of my D3). I've taken out the four screws from the light fitting but having applied a lot of pressure to the unit, it will not come off.

Is it held on by pop type fixings? Am I going to damage it by getting heavy with it. The fitting cartoons are not clear and could probably benefit from some narrative.

Any help appreciated

Thanks Slimer - cracked it.

For others who carry out this task, the rear screen trim has to come off to do the job to get a the nuts that Slimer mentions. Make up a big sign saying "reconnect electrics". I closed the door and discovered that it would not open again without power. I had to get inside, remove the trim and with great difficulty reconnect the power. Lesson learnt.

Did you try to unlock it using the dash buttons first?

No. I thought they were all connected to the power system.

I did the same when I removed the ladder, forgot to re-connect the switch and couldn't then re-open the tailgate Rolling Eyes The dash button only unlocks, it doesn't release the catch, I too had to prise the trim off from the inside and re-connect it.
