KVM lockdown? / 2014HSE
Morning all,
I have a recently acquired 2014 HSE / facelift vehicle with one key. We are nearing the end of a few bits and pieces to get it where I want it but a sound machine that had a very easy life before I bought it. It has a reasonable service history but not none of it is main dealer.
Question (following research on here first) - Am I right in saying that there was some sort of dealer / LR software update in 2016 or 2017 that locked the KVM to stop thefts and if so, I am hoping that my KVM may not be locked. I have a replacement key but the local LR dealer advised this morning that I would need a new KVM and 2 hours labour to get new key up and running - he did not connect up my vehicle to anything though
Hoping against hope? Is there any way of finding out if the KVM is locked or not?
Another question, if I do bring it back into a decent indy or LR dealer and it gets software updates, is there anything I may loose or gain from current (taking it that it is the original software)

I was told this process was applied to new 8 speed D4 cars built after 2012 and any D4 that has been in for a service to an LR dealer since - however I cannot guarantee this is correct as it was told to me by the service manager at my local LR dealership (I had been offered a repossessed 2012 D4 8 speed from a finance contact) Maybe someone from GAP or someone with an IID Pro will confirm as they are probably closest to this information.Must stop buying shiny toys....

Must have been lucky, just got local Lock Doctor here in Limerick to do it. No problem, they needed to download some codes for their magic tablet, fifteen minutes later I have two working keys for €100.
Great result, they said they have been able to code keys to Discoverys without issue. Not sure what software they have but I am happy.
Certainly cheaper than the €280 for the KVM and three hours labour the dealer quoted me this morning.

The KVM changed in 2015??? I think it was so the dealer was wrong. If it had been fitted with a later KVM then I think that would have been different.012MY RRS 5.0 Supercharged Autobiography (Current)
