Sorry to interrupt your exploration into the world of paranoid hack proof underwear Laughing

Let's say we've all now got our Faraday bags. What about the obd keyrewrite vulnerability? Has anyone done anything as simple for that?

I was thinking of extending my obd port to another panel well hidden cable and replace original port with a dummy.

Ps. How about this as an alternative Faraday thingy? https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=ht...1258587194

Has a little more Je nay say kwa don't you think?

one of my colleagues discovered the original flaw.....

I think disabling keyless entry in the ccf makes sense, and I wasn't aware one could, so I'll do that. As for the obd, I find if you unscrew the mounting bolts you can then just tuck it up well out of the way. not a perfect solution, but stops easy access to it. Had considered getting one off a scrapper or as a replacement part and putting that in its place as well, but decided it was too much hassle to keep moving it back when i went to the dealer. However, now I'm not going there, I'm revisiting that choice.

Mine must either be disabled or not working. I have to blip the key fob to lock/unlock. Mine is an early D4 XS, so maybe not a feature on those models?

Not moved the obd port yet but it's securely wrapped in steel with a big ass padlock around it.

Well good new and bad news.

Good news is I've finally gotten round to switching the keyless entry off. Snow was all cleared off the car, bunged the IID in and had a good look for the right bit in the Car Configuration section. Mr. Green Mr. Green Mr. Green

Bad news is I can't find the setting in there. I was sure I'd seen it in there, under either body control or inst pack. But not today. And don't have the courage to start looking in the ECU bit, ECU = thar be dragons to me. Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry

One for Pat@GAP's suggestion list me thinks. Thumbs Up

found this ... https://www.landrover.co.uk/keylessentry/index.html

is it new ? suggests dealers can do something to help ... but doesn't say what that might be.

I think that is to stop keys being programmed via OBD port. Only the dealers can program them, I've tried it on mine and it tells you how many keys but wont reprogram any more.

Germany 2014 Discovery 4 3.0 SCV6 HSE Auto Corris GreyDiscovery 4

From what I read on the web, JLR made the KVM module "read only" from MY2015 onward. But as usual, it is apparently possible to circumvent this protection: https://www.keyprogtools.com/key-programmi...rogrammer.
At least here in Germany there is a device available that prevents programing a new key - https://oem-plus-webshop.de/epages/346ef95...ducts/ASP. It has prevented a number of thefts from fellow members on the German forum.
Black Box Solutions seems to have something similar as well: https://blackbox-solutions.com/product/cat...#can-lock. Have not heard anything of it so far.
