key programming with first gen IID tool?

Is it possible to program a key with first hardware generation of the IID tool?

In the key programming section of the user manual there is a heading "Regular non-Bluetooth IIDTool, second hardware version and BT / Pro only." There is another part of the manual section before this heading that doesn't specifically say it relates to hardware version 1.

PS. Does anyone know if existing keys can lose their programming? One of my keys has stopped working (battery voltage seems okay) and I'm wondering if I can re-program it

You cannot reprogram a key that has previously been written to.
They are a one shot, one chance, item.

Pete K, I'm struggling to identify the correct key on ebay.

Sellers are saying to check the FCC ID is correct - I can't work out what that is; or they specify a chip number which doesnt seem to match anything I can see on mine - see attached photos of mine

Hi

I think Australia is 315 MHz

Uk is 433 MHz

Ur MHZ will be on the side of ur keyfobs casing under the key blade

Also just looked on eBay Aussie site , assume there’s cheaper ones, just linked it as an example

I always thought keys had to be matched according to the countries Mhz , I believe the FCC ID is an American thing but know the gurus here will know

Hi gstuart,
Thanks for this. Unfortunately I don't think I have the original key fobs - the buttons covers were completely gone so I cut them open along the seam line with a hacksaw after buying new key fobs. I'm fairly certain I threw them away.

I had been searching on ebay and hand't come across the key you linked to. However my keys don't look like the one the ebay seller pictures. Mine look like the UK keys.

I have however had a bit of luck. After reading something on one of the threads on here about there being coil in the steering column that communicates with the key, I put the key back together using a new fob case and swapped the key blade over, then tried starting the car with it (after unlocking the car with the good key). After turning the ignition off and removing the key, it now operates the central locking.

So it seems it had somehow lost sync with the car.

My key is the same as this one (the ciruit board details match);
