key fob not working

hi
can some shed light on my spare key fob issue. the main key works as designed.
the spare key will not work to open or lock the doors or start the car. i have placed the key in the ignition and left it for 10 mins, to try and charge the batteries to no avail
is there a simple fix?

thanks in advance

Probably not Sad

I had the same problem a couple of years ago. My spare wouldn't open the car but unlike yours, it would start it but even driving around for 2 weeks in France with the spare key in the ignition made no difference. 2 things here too; firstly, if the key fob battery is discharged, you should get a message up on the dashboard. Second, I suspect it would take more than 10 mins in the ignition to charge the battery sufficiently anyway.

I ended up taking ours back to the dealers but even they took some persuading that the key fob was k Censored d and insisted on reprogramming it first then getting me to drive around for another week with it in the ignition. When none of this made no difference, they finally got me a new key. I've had no problem since.

Had similar prob recently and just ended up buying two new fobs as batteries useless in both after 4 years

but try this just in case your issue is different and especially if your fob has been lying in a drawer for the past age:

use a rubber band or tape and attach your spare to your regular fob whilst you are driving and that may revive the charge in it - take it for a bit of a spin if your daily commute is short and it may charge up - it doesnt charge through the key it just needs to be next to the ignition to gain power.

Try that before shelling out on a new one or looking for more solutions.
