Key fob/ door unlocking issue |
|
Morning all
My car has developed an annoying problem these last few days. When I press once on the fob to unlock the drivers door it may take 5 or 6 pushes before I hear the lock go. When I try then to open the other locks, which usually should happen after the second press of the unlock button, nothing happens.
It take ages standing beside the car pressing the buttons like a spare plumb to get it to open.
No doubt this is a common fault so question is do I have to reset the key somehow or is it something more troublesome? A happy childhood ... is the worst possible preparation for life.

Ok so I found the spare and it works perfectly.
Could my key be faulty or not getting a good enough charge in the ignition? Anyone had this before? A happy childhood ... is the worst possible preparation for life.

my wifes VW Golf has exactly the same symptom - in our case it was a duff battery in the key. Also Gone : MY14 D4 SDV6 HSE : Barolo Black + Almond
Sadly Gone : MY08 D3 TDV6 HSE : Stornoway + Alpaca + Privacy + BAS Remap

It's supposed to re-charge while you're driving, I think.

Hi SL,
Yep you're right it does recharge but the fob is acting up now so I'm thinking the battery is failing and not charging properly. Its off an early 05 model so perhaps its just worn out? A happy childhood ... is the worst possible preparation for life.

The keys do open BUT are normaly damaged while doing it, ive a few here ive being experimenting with.
Get a new key mate from landrover, your dodgy old key will be a button fault not the battery.
