Cuddy are alright but again you will damage a disco, I gave my 90 wing a good seeing to down there.
They had just opened when I first went down there and they were opening new routes all the time so maybe have some soft routes nowadays?
With Cuddy you have to be a member which Iirc is a one off payment of 20 quid plus 25/30 quid per visit makes laning look very appealing.

That's still a lot cheaper than Truegrip, though truegrip is a tuition day.

I think most of the tuition ones are quite dear, thats one good reason to go laning as for the same money you can spend a few hours driving some nice food in the pub and go out for the evening and still have money left so spend on the car.

I spent years driving lots of the local Kent lanes and will tell you theres very few that wont damage a D3/4!
Some are so tight that when I drive my series down them you cannot open the doors Shocked
Anything thats sticks out ie mirrors/snorkels/racks etc will fall victim.
Most of the Pilgrims way will be fine, in fact a normal car can drive it, but any lanes that lead off it especially any that go uphill avoid as you will get stuck/damaged.
Theres also quite a few that are padlocked (incl some of the pilgrims way) and need permits to travel them, permits are foc and can be got from the council all they need is your reg number and address etc.
Theres also quite a few that have temp TRO for the winter.
Most are also quite short.

Be aware the chalk side slopes are like ice when wet and will pin your car against a tree.

The Kent GIS site is quite good and will tell you whats what and any restrictions that are in place, sadly its slow to load and a pita to use.
The OS maps are also good, lots of the lanes have been shut over the years.

Youtube is a good source of info.

Ive always laned on my own and my favourite time to go out is the wee hours, no walkers, no cyclists, no motorbikes, just total piece and quiet.

many thanks for the help, most appreciated

have got a permit for the tro , think i know the lanes u mean , ones that run near biggin hill airport , but a lot of farmers have put locked gates there, as stolen cars were getting dumped and burned there

been looking around gravesend area or around royal tunbridge wells

think it will take me some time

will ensure that if i join a club i see them ripping through lanes with no regard won't get involved

got 4 x land rover owners interested already on another forum , goes without question once i find some will post it on here so others can come ,

then be ideal to stop off in a nice country pub for lunch and make a day of it , meeting others and having a laugh along the way

think also as said, organise something when the weather warms up so no ice etc

can then check out the lanes before hand of there suitability, hazards etc and

been chatting to a helpful guy at kent county council

think if i buy some os maps will be easier to use than online, then check with the council if they have any restrictions etc

thks again

think it will be nice to get a mixture of landies , series , defenders etc

know there's some freelanders interested , but will have the height restriction , will see first what the lanes are like

ps , parents are in goodhart way

have a great day

there's a few nice pubs near gravesend that are by the river, are dog friendly as well

would be good to try and set up somewhere that's fair to everyone , ref distance etc

OS maps 138 and 148 have loads and loads of lanes on them, OS 135 which covers tunbridge wells has very few lanes almost fingers of one hand.
I dont think theres many out Gravesend way either.
Have heard theres some good long decent lanes down dover way.
