Then LR need to choose a different insurance partner.
Or by the very nature of their contractual relationship they have mutually agreed that LR will cover it under their standard warranty book conditions? Who actually knows what the agreement between them is?

I just spoke to the extended warranty provider. They confirm that crank failure on the SDV6 is specifically being handled by LR themselves and provided that you can demonstrate the vehicle complies with the general service and warranty conditions they will provide assistance on a case by case basis.
So, that being the case, does it really matter whether LR warranty cover it or not ?

But warranties in themselves don't always cover everything for any reason. My point is that the same consideration is (should) be being given by LR as the warranty company would have done.

The negative on the Velar. My deposit would just buy me out of it and I’d start a fresh, perhaps scary was a bit strong, changing the end of this year would probably make more sense.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

That doesn't seem to reconcile with people's experiences. I'm not bothered either way, I'm loving the Porsche a V8 really does put smiles on your face. DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

Paul, please stop talking about V8 diesels.
I sat in a clients MY17 FFRR SDV8 Autobiography today, whilst it doesn't meet my needs as well as the D4, I still want one.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Facing a £20+k bill for a new engine on a 3.5 year old car is something that just shouldn't be happening...

That’s a very different beast to mine, the Cayenne is a beast when you unleash it, I know you’ve had fast cars, I haven’t, but 0-60 in 5.2 seconds and cornering like on rails is a whole new experience. To be fair if I could have found a decent dealer I would have gone TDV8 RRS2 and been over the moon, but I can’t be arsed messing about with LR dealerships life is too short. I might put some different wheels or tyres on it for next year, it has locking centre and rear diffs so I would guess will do most of what I need as well as being awesome on road way beyond my LR experience so far.DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

Not the main reason for chopping my D4 but the thought that the car could go from being worth £17k to £6k in an instant was always at the back of my mind. Having stripped one Disco, I didn’t want to do that to a second.

Paul- I've driven two Cayenne's (petrol and the small diesel) and a Macan petrol turbo. they were all brilliant to drive on road, but they're just not me, for several reasons.
If you think your Cayenne is fast, try the Macan Turbo. No idea what the 0-60 on it is, but it felt quicker than the Cayenne Turbo (petrol). It belongs to a colleague, when it starts up it sounds fantastic.
The FFRR is a compromise but would work okay for me. I'd miss the more practical shape and larger boot area of the D3/4 and the rearmost seats are handy, but in practise are rarely used now.
The big, big attraction for me is the FFRR has a very similar upright seating/driving position to the D3/4 and still has a large glass area. I like to sit on rather than in a big 4X4. The competition all feel as if I'm sitting cocooned in a sporty car, albeit one that is big and high up. Plus the FFRR has the all important split tailgate.
I still have a few reservations, not least the dealer issue, so may just keep the D4 for longer.
If in doubt, do nowt!2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

I think the Macan is a second quicker to 60, but doesn’t tow 3.5t, nor have the room in the cabin. My problem will be what to buy next time as they don’t do diesels anymore DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone
