Welcome to the Soviet states of Europe - more regs and bureacracy and BS.
Feel sorry for you JKP mate - hope it works out for you.
Were having similar problems with Large vans and the CPC you will need to drive them from next year or so!!!
Yes thats right your UK driving licence will not permit you to drive a transit or sprinter without an expensive 37 hour 'course' which obviously is going to be unpaid workw hilst your doing it!!!
All things shipping, storage, transport. UK and worldwide.
John,
Sorry to hear the news and as almost everyone has already said what a load of old Bo cks. With mobile units this serves no purpose but to drive your business into the hands of the fixed cleaning sites. This just cannot be right.
You know what will happen next we will not be able to clean our cars, do the washing , use the washing machine...dare I say even have a fu king bath with out going to an official site with the correct licenses.
Do we pay these wa kers to deliberately f ck us every way they can.
Is it not truly the most screamingly frustrating thing that all these wa kers work for US and we can do nothing to enforce some common sense in to our regulations.
It's a shame to see that our European cousins are in the same or even worse trouble.
Trev.

Well...
Since you cannot wash your own car on your own driveway in our country and environment legislation is harsh, a lot of trucking companies have given up washing their own HGV's. Instead of using a washing facility there are a lot of suppliers nowadays with a mobile truckwash. Basically they do the same you would on your driveway but they roll out a big blanket with air-filled sides, looks a bit like the kids' swimming pool for your garden. All waste water is collected, filtered/cleaned and clean water is disposed of into the sewer. All oil, debris etc etc is pumped into their waste reservoir and they take it with them.
Is this a solution to your problem? Surely, no-one could object to this modus operandi?
jkp, I feel for you, legislation disabling you to earn an honest wage sticking our your neck as a self-employed man is just unfair.

Im a bit sketchy about the detail but its along the lines of not being able to drive 3.5GVW vans (Sprinters large transit Ivecos etc) without completing a CPC.
Its a Euro (Soviet) wide thing coming in next year or so.
It also applies to HGV lads who won grangdaddy rights, like I can currently drive a 7.5t LGV on my ordinary licence coz im an old fart, but not for much longer.
Need to do some research and get back to you - tell your lads to do the same.

As for my lads looking, if it's not 'the wolves' or porn - probably in that order, they wouldn't bother.

JKP. Have you considered one of those bunds that Rich @ PB uses? Bit of a balls ache but at least you'd be able to carry on working.
Just a thought.

Really feel for you John, the world (and it's associated beaurocrats) has gone completely mad!! I'm so glad not to be in buisiness anymore, was bad enough in the 90s dealing with polyeurothane foam regs and general government meddling. Obviously the gvt wants the taxes and VAT from all the cleaning productsbut then wants you to wash the car with water only. Water recylcling, you'd think we live in S France!

Yes the bund and a recovery set up is what I need. Currently looking into it and seeing what's what and all the things that go with it. As well as a van that will be able to carry all the gear as my current one is not going to cut it.

I guess that eats in to your set up/ clear down time, making each job longer. disposal of the waste water will have to go to a dedicated facility meaning more costs and like you say, you'll need a bigger van to carry it all.
does the waste water tank need to be bunded or double skinned for leaks? 2014 D4 XS

Could be a silver lining; if this is being applied to your competitors then there could be a new gap in the market.
You could erm "clean up"

No, but if it leaks I can be penalised under the transportation of waste or something like that. Waste regs do state that you need to be able to collect 100% contents in the event of a leak, so a bund under the tank is advised, but that only seems to apply to fixed sites.
I have been speaking with a waste contractor company who I have worked with in the past and really getting my eyes opened as to what can and cannot be done.
At this rate the thread JKP Detail - Closed maybe up by 5pm today
I'll desticker than van and set up outside asda and kid on I can't speak english. That's the only way of making a living in this game now I think
