From Jag (XF) to Discovery 4!
Well today was the day I hacked it up to Birmingham from Rickmansworth to pick up my first Discovery. I've been on the hunt for a couple of years now but after trawling Auto Trader, etc I finally went up last weekend with the missus to see a 2016 Lux, but ended-up buying a 2015 HSE instead from the same dealer (Barclay Motor Company). It just felt right straight away, and it was two grand cheaper! I didn't need the rear TV's or extra rear speakers. (The late 2015 HSE is Euro 6 so I won't get ULEZ spanked). Anyhow, I've loved looking through everyone's new purchases and questions on here and now hopefully be able to add my tuppence worth at some point.
A lot of peoples opinions on here have influenced me towards this purchase decision and the drive back home proved it. I had a massive grin plastered all over my face all the way down the M40!
Happy days.

2010 D4 more versatile than a Swiss army knife, now gone
We have just returned to D4 ownership after a 10 year absence having sold our 59-plate D4 in 2012.
In the intervening years we have had a variety of cars including my Jaguar XF 3.0S in British Racing Green.
I truly loved that thing and it was the most comfortable car I've ever owned. Fitted me like a glove it did.
However, it was not the most practical vehicle once we moved to the back-end of beyond 3 years ago...

Cheers everyone!
Here are a couple of the dealers shots, (until I can take it out and get some proper ones done). I'm WFH today after I got back and can't stop looking out the window at it....
The LR Maintenance schedule envisages changing belts, tensioners etc. at 112k miles or at 7 years of age, whichever comes first, a not inexpensive job, which has hopefully been done.

Yes I loved my Jag XF (2010 3.0) too but i'm now carting loads of stuff everywhere and the in-laws & their luggage so I needed an upgrade. Also the ULEZ was beginning to spank me big-time so everything added-up to the switch.

Cheers everyone! Will update as I go.
Just fitted Brodit phone mount for iPhone. Simples!
Fitted Adrenaline pedal lock (instead of v-heavy Disklok).
This weekend, collect roof bars, etc from Mr JDB's 'yard sale'.
Next weekend, side steps (for the in laws) via Fastlane Styling in Romford. (As it's too chuffing cold to fit them myself).

Remember to secure your rear lights also, as they too get stolen by scum.
A simple & easy deterrent is to use these plastic washer & cap thingies that are used on number plates.
Use black to be discreet, or yellow if you want it noticed.
Enjoy your D4 btw ...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

I have literally just ordered those today from ebay as the actual number plate was missing a yellow cap. So how do they (scumbags) access the rear lights for removal & where do I fit those caps? I'll have to check that out as it must be on this site somewhere... Many thanks! Without adding a tracker I can't think of anything else I can do security wise.Discovery 4 HSE late 2015 Euro6

They go in with a screwdriver at the tailgate & rear light gap, undo the two screws [on each light] then prize them out [not giving a toss about damaging the tailgate].
To fit these caps, just remove these two screws, fit the thingies and screw back in and fit cap ... though not sure if you need longer screws.
