Towing with f pace

Hi al cope,

Get one for a day. Just like the disco they still suffer from j/lr gremlins. Do yourself a favour and have a look at the ‘jaguar f pace forum’ for more solid info.

If you can make sure you test drive the 250D R sport not many dealers have a demonstrator??

All the best Billy B

And that is almost exactly how manufacturers measure a cars townig capability, only difference is its what weight the unit can pull from a standing start uphill, the hill being 1:7 ISTR Thumbs Up that’s why a Disco in low box and 4 wheel drive reigns supreme Very Happy

Off Topic if you were to start off in low range due to a steep hill, what is the fastest you can be going when you change back to high range? I assume you slip into neutral, press the switch, and back into drive and carry on?

you can leave it in low and go through all 8 gears and keep up a reasonable speed. I know someone (now not in the UK) who towed a large boat all the way home from North Wales in low range.

@Billy - yes, I think I am going to try and find a 250D AWD Sport or Priv spec to try.

Also, which is best F Pace forum as there looks like a couple I can see?

jag f pace towing

Hi al,

I have joined www.fpaceforums.co.uk. Nowhere near as good as the disco 3 club, but that’s life.

Handbook states 40 mph going up, going down is a no, no. I do it regularly when towing go up, takes a lot of stress of the gb.

Going to try this, thanks

It had crossed my mind to use low range once when getting going from standing up a steep track off a site outside Keswick but I thought I’d loose too much speed during the swap to high range. It sounds stupid now but I’d never considered doing 5th or 6th gear in low range. That could be ideal on the winding, hilly final lanes in and out of lakes caravan sites.

Major, major improvement from the D2 Very Happy , stop pull your arm out of its socket trying change into low and when the terrain has changed stop and change back up but use the other arm as your left is still out of joint Rolling with laughter

not sure if this helps anyone else doing the same sort of excersise as me:

Kerb Weight  BHP  Torque  Auto      List       emissions  MPG
D5 SE (2ltr)    2184         240  430     8 speed   £54,503    197        37.7
D Sport HSE     1990         240  500     9 speed   £45,665    182        41.5
F Pace R Sport  1880         240  500     8 speed   £46,595    178        42.2

I just used the LR and Jag car builder web pages, and didnt take any options other than starting model and 240BHP diesel engine. Didnt realise the 2ltr in the D5 didnt have as much torque as in the D Sport or Jag.

thats a Censored , the columns are all out of line, but if I edit they are OK

I didn't't realise the weights are so similar either. Is the torque NM or lbft?
