Jacks: bottle jacks; trolley jacks... HELP! |
|
I’m setting off to the Alps in a few days and I need to put on my winter wheels. As well as this, I need a decent jack, kept in the car, that will allow me to easily change a wheel if the worst happens.
What are my options; a decent trolley jack for changing all four wheels at home - and then a decent bottle jack to keep in the car?? Or would a decent bottle jack do everything I need ?? If so, what is a good one, that I can trust!?
As well as this, any adapters I should look for, etc?
I’m used to changing wheels on an old Rav4 which is easy peasy, with the small scissor jack they include. The Disco jack situ’ seems like a minefield!
It’s getting my to the point, I might just call Land Rover Assist!

Lidl currently have a small bottle jack in store for £11.99 which is ok for a Disco to allow you to change wheels on the road.
I've also got an exhaust driven jack for off road use. 1972 Range Rover Classic 2 door V8

£11.99! Is it 100% up to the task? I’m paranoid about getting caught out and don’t mind paying for something that I know I’ll be able to rely on.
Having said that, I’ll try and find a Lidl to take a look; I’m guessing the small Lidl’s won’t have them in?
