Jacks

We proved in Wales that the standard LR jack just isn't up to the job off road so what are the alternatives?

Hi-Lifts are out as there's no where to attach them until some suitable rock sliders are available and even then can still only be used at the side. Hydralic rams would be good, but would some serious modification of the car!

So Trolley Jacks which would be ideal but heavy to carry around and would need to be well strapped down in the back or Bottle Jacks which are smaller and lighter to carry but can take an age to pump up

Any other ideas?

I would say that a hi-reach trolley jack without the wheels would probably be ideal - I know it's heavy and would need tying down well but it's got to be the most suitable jack for the purpose?

Both stable and fairly quick to operate?

No I didn't, that things stuffed in the back of my shed somewhere. It's definitely not up to the job of lifting a D3.
Good idea if one could be found that is

I'm looking at a 5 tonne bottle jack with a location pin mod. as long as you have a bit of ply to spread the load it'll do the job Wink
the other option i'm looking at is to have the rock sliders modified to take a high lift

The sliders can be modified easily enough, but are they man enough for the job with the fixings as such.

if you put the mods in the right place, yes (i've had a structural engineer do the calcs for me Wink )

When not get Metal Mickey do the fabs for you, with the calculated mods, then I could add some to my D3.

Most important for protection is the cling film though, that was brilliant.

The seriously heavy duty ones on there would no doubt be up to the job but the seriously heavy duty prices are a bit of an issue!
