J&E Re-map not effected by latest software or what?
Just had a 60,000 mile service, and I now have the i on the dash. So I presume that my car will have had the latest software installed. So does this mean that the re-map or up-grade should have been overwritten, as it appears not to have affected the performance at all.

The enhancement work is entirely automated, as in press the button then sit back and make a cuppa whilst it finishes.....
If they did that, then the engine management ECU will have been overwritten..........
On the other hand, maybe your dealer is aware of the upgrade, and did a manual upgrade, leaving that ECU alone.

If they had updated the engine ecu it should of been overwritten although i know for a fact your car allready had the newest software in it.
I think i remember reading in a technical bulitin about the "i" on the dash board on all the time, its because of a software incompatability.
I will see if i can find it again.
After updating the instrument pack software using the worldwide diagnostic system (WDS), an 'I' may appear permanently on the message center.
Cause: A software incompatitibily issue exists between different levels of instrument pack and air suspension software which causes the information symbol ('I') to be displayed.
Action: When updating the instrument pack software, the air suspension software should also be updated to the latest level.

Yes, there is a TSB LA413-002, it states that if "i" appears permanently, there is a software incompatibility between the instrument pack software and the air suspension software.

One would have thought so - there's a TSB for it - sounds like they just upgrade the software packs to matchSteve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

Yes it can.
If you've had the enhancement, and got the "i" but no associated message, then the enhancement has been bodged, as one of the key elements is updating the suspension ECU software level to the latest version.
It really beggars belief, as the enhancement process (the software part of it, anyway) is entirely automated, and requires no oily hand input.

The problem is simply that most dealerships only have 1 WDS diagnsostic machine and most technicians do not have either the skill or confidence to operate a laptop with ease.
I have seen technicians 'freeze' a car in 'transport mode' simply because rather than read the instructions they kept pressing the 'enter' key on the keyboard.Money talks.Sex sells.Mud sticks.Time flys. happens.People talk.Impressions last!

But the "i" thing, I suppose, is only a problem if it remains there all the time. In my case, it appears and dissapears, but I haven't quite figured out under what circumstances - it doesn't just go out after a message.
Before the "enhancement" I never got the "i", and I guess it should be there for something.Blue
The 'i' (under normal operation) would inform you that there was an info message, yet will not display the message due to the display being used by either the trip, mpg, average speed etc etc. If you left the LCD display blank, then the info message can be displayed properly (i.e. correct amount of time) and therefore you don't get the 'i'. In others, 'i' means "press for more information".Matt

I have just picked mine up from having the enhancement done and noticed the "i" on for most of the way home and then I sussed out that I have the speed warning set at 30mph and when I dropped below 30 the "i" went out, it never used to do that, so I am just going to go and fill up and go for a drive to see if I can notice any difference.

So did it not bong at you too ? The old sw bongs when you exceed the set speed warning... well most of the time it does its a bit random.
