I've finally bought one
Well despite the best efforts of the franchised dealers I visited in my quest to buy a Discovery I will be picking it up this Thursday.
I started to look for a Disco in February 2015 (my wife wants to be able to see over hedges )!!!
First dealer told me wrong spec for the vehicle and on test drive when I commented about the ride said "if you think this is bad you ought to try a Range Rover"
He didn't instil any confidence at all.
Next dealer didn't know how to put the third row of seats up and told me that they were only suitable for young children. On the test drive he was more interested in showing me how the blue tooth connection to the phone/radio worked.
Thinking that the D5 might come about I decided to wait but got fed up looked at the new Q7 and XC90.
Decided that despite them both wing a much newer design, there was no comparison to the Disco so back to franchised dealer (different ones) although you would have hardly known it !
We decided we wanted Montalcino red, Ebony leather, and a few other bits.
First dealer contacted gave me a price 10 days after my first enquiry and that was after I asked again.
Next I was told 'yesI will call back later today' You've guessed, they didn't even though I phoned again.
I had an email from them telling me that they couldn't match the price I wanted.
Was getting fed up by this time!!!
Contacted another ' Will ring you back in one hour' They didn't but I did get an email the next day saying they hoped I was satisfied with the way my enquiry had been treated . A generic email.
I phoned their head of business and a few minutes later a 'sales executive phoned'
( Am I getting boring yet sorry)
Details of what I wanted given again he email a quote to me saying he was off the next day but would contact me the day after No he didn't
Are Land Rover selling so Many vehicles they don't need sales any more?
Winge over
Saw a 12 month old 64 plated HSE for sale at Arnold Clark, It wasn't the colour I wanted, (well it is black actually)!
What excellent service, what a difference to any of the Land Rover franchised dealer I had been into or contact with, they could and should learn something. It is also many thousands of pounds less than LR are selling.
I certainly will loose less money than buying the new one I had intended to. What is the matter withLR Dealers.
I now collect my new car on Thursday morning

Good luck with Arnold Clark! Worst company i have ever dealt with and i will never buy from them again. Great until they get your money! That goes for their top management also! Bought my first Disco from them years ago and got it over a month after i was meant to. Ended up with a Kia loan car that i had to insure myself because they messed the EPB up before it was delivered. They had to send the car to LR to fix. Sales didnt care at all and never got in touch after i handed my money over. After many complaints i didnt get any apology just a generic letter saying they are sorry for the inconvenience!
Hope you have better luck.

Nice looking motor, but good luck with AC, they were great with me many years ago until I had problems with the car, I won't go into details but I had to threaten them with legal action before I got anywhere with them. I wouldn't go anywhere near them, absolute Cowboys a, few drivers at work say the same great when they sell you the car but the minute there is a problem forget it your on your own.
Arnold Clark you may fool the masses with your fancy adverts with actors pretending to be happy customers but I've seen your true colours.
In comparison I can't fault Pentland LR Cupar, can't do enough to help. Great sales and after sales.
Sorry to take the shine off your Disco, enjoy it, it will be fantastic. 23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

Funny you should say about the dealers as I've just finished writing a very long one to my local dealers head office saying about how bad my experience has been
However, like its said above the car more than makes up for it.
