I haven't found a way to play video with an iPod through the ipod usb connection ...it just won't give the option in the "My Video" section on the infotainment screen...it will supposedly play video files from a USB but the USB has to be using a FAT or FAT32 format
The DivX license thing is if you have DivX movie files on a dvdr ...DivX is software commonly used for viewing and burning discs 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Ok thanks DG. I'm surprised that the infotainment wont even play it as a tune without the video though.
A normal DVD will play the soundtrack when on the move but not the video picture, so thought this might have been the same

Did anyone find out if video from the ipod is supported? I've downloaded a couple of trailers from itunes to an 60gb ipod, but there's no 'ipod' selection under the my video soft key. I also loaded the same m4v video's to a usb stick and selected the 'usb' option but nothing was shown.
Any ideas? I think a trip back to the dealer is on the cards... MY13 D4 HSE Luxury, Baltic Blue, Tow Pack, Side Steps, Mud Flaps

The official line is that it does not support iPod .m4v for video ...only .mp4 via disc or usb. I haven't been ale to get any of it to work tbh 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

I haven't a clue about what the iPod support in the Disco does or does not do.
But you could try storing the .mp4 on the iPod using iTunes (might have to install something like cineXplayer or so) and see of the iPod support will recognise the iPod as a mass storage device like an usb stick.
HTH.

Ok I'll try USB and mp4. Sounds like that is a supported combination. Will let you know how I get on, or just give up and accept I need a stack of DVDs in the glove box MY13 D4 HSE Luxury, Baltic Blue, Tow Pack, Side Steps, Mud Flaps

Progress... MY2013 HSE Luxury incl Rear Seat Entertainment
Managed to get USB (New SanDisk Cruzer Switch 32GB) formatted FAT32 to work with movies in .avi format with divx encoding and mp3 audi to work, in the front and the back.
Noted a few things along the way.
1. Unless there are files the system recognised it could play it suggested the USB is unsupported, whereas it was the files it didn't like.
2. I had to use the usb port in the rear for the rear screens, couldn't find a way to plug in front storage bin and get rear to see it - maybe more fiddling will sort this.
3. Browsing isn't the best designed user interface, and the system seems very keen to skip to a file format it likes regardless of whether you want something further down the list or another folder.
4. Didn't manage to get it to play any .mp4 - perhaps its just very sensitive to codecs - which dont seem to be documented anywhere that I can find.
5. From front screen (my video) there is no option for ipod (2*TV, DVD and USB only), so not sure how to get itunes flims on my ipod to work at all.
Ho hum. MY13 D4 HSE Luxury, Baltic Blue, Tow Pack, Side Steps, Mud Flaps

Hello all.
I have the 2012MY with the RSE and spent a lot of time trying to work this all out.
The misleading thing is that the literature says the system will play MP4 videos. To be fair, this is strictly true, but they are not the MP4s most of us are used to. The videos need to be wrapped up as AVI files, which can themselves support MP4 video.
Quickly - it is not possible to play the video on the RSE screens from a USB connected to the front, or indeed control it from the front screen. Very annoying, as it means until the children can understand the remote control or browsing the file system, then we're stuck with DVDs. (Is this the same in 2013MY cars?)
On my Mac I used a very simple command line utility called mencoder. Now, I know this will not work for everyone, but it did for me. There are many Windows and Mac based utilities - they key is getting the right format. As said in an earlier post, the car is very sensitive to format and just gives up if anything is out of the ordinary. The format below seems to work and the quality is absolutely fine.
So, here is my command line:
mencoder input.mp4 -oac mp3lame -lameopts cbr:br=128:vol=0 -srate 48000 -ovc xvid -sws 0 -xvidencopts bitrate=1800:max_key_interval=240:max_bframes=0:noqpel:notrellis -ofps 24.983 -vf dsize=800:480:0 -noodml -o output.avi
Change input and output accordingly.
(I do need to check this again, but you get the idea!)
See how you get on. 2016MY Landmark + RSE
