Issues after clutch/flywheel replacement - please help!

Hi all,

i got my clutch replaced like last month, i had a thread here, which lots of people helped with and i tried to explain to the garage guy, but theyre pretty much refusing to take ownership of the issues. theyre saying the car came on recovery, it could have been broken from the start.

i have gone through and got the error messages, i am confident someone can help, well im more after a garage that will know what theyre doing and can get my car sorted, or if someone in the forum can sort it out for me (obv id pay for it, not expecting a free service).

please find attached the picture of the error codes

please read http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic161865.html for more info

or ive pasted the first post by myself on that thread.
'Hi everyone,

i just got my car back after changing the flywheel /clutch, and now the section showing what gear its in, has completely gone ( it was dodgy before as i had the parking brake light on, which i got tired of resetting as the clutch slipped, but now its fully gone) cruise control also no longer works ( it used to before the clutch gave up ) and im also getting an additional 'transmission range change not available' message and it doesnt allow me to change to low range. i think its all linked to the same bit ( correct me if im wrong) but would anyone know whats happened? has the garage not fitted something properly, missed something?

if you have some time, please reply as i need to get back to the garage tomorrow with these issues and want to have some knowledge about what im talking to them about. '

thank you all for reading, and thank you for all the brilliant help everyone has given me.

Start in reverse then each forward gear, hold each gear with foot fully off the clutch until the gear indication shows the selected gear, this must all be done in one ignition cycle. Once complete turn ignition off and remove key until the radio clock & park brake indicator go off.

As above go through all the gears on a quite stretch of road. Any time I did it I used low range, it makes it easier to do.

hi all,

i tried this the first time they gave the car back to me, but no luck, i know how to do this as i used to do it every other day before my clutch gave up. but i think the car doesnt detect what gear its in at all completely. it does even show the N it used to for neutral. they gave the car back and said they found a plug that was unplugged which theyve now plugged in, still it was showing the transmission error BUT at that point, i didnt do the calibration as i spotted it was still showing the transmission error so just handed it back to them again.

i will try get the car back and try that, any other suggestions?

thanks

looks as if they are incompetent bunch of Censored and cocked something up and now do now want to take ownership of that

last time I went to supa dupa garage specialized in LR as well as Jeep they had to pull the box out 4 times and all cos they kept forgetting to put the clip on the breather pipe which kept leaking oil out but obviously refused to accept my suggestion to do it first time around

too many wannabes like that around

If they've knackered your XY Sensor then there's probably a very good chance they've not refitted the crossover pipe brackets properly as well.

Expect a very big bill for a replacement crossover pipe as well when that fails as a result.

Last I heard it was a body off job to replace the crossover pipe.

It can be replaced in situ, but I think it's a fiddly job on probably quicker and more efficient to take the body off to do it.

No idea with regards cost. The crossover pipe itself is approx £600 or so I think.

if crossover pipes was damaged badly it would hiss massively even on tick-over and it can be replaced in situ but it is PITA job

ebay offten offers crossover pipe for 200-250 PN 1357035

thanks guys,

so i have finally got a response after a week in exact. they called an electrician to have a look and they're now saying its the sensor itself, the wiring is all good and that the sensor needs replacing and it is nothing to do with them so ill need to pay. i am waiting for a call back on a price for that.
