Had a call shortly before 17:30pm from Barretts LR, they are requesting a visit from a LR Tech man from god knows where, due to them on Monday as yes, definately need a NEW turbo. They are getting LRA to look as in their regard its premature failure and costs should be with them.
However, they said I need to pay for the Honda Accord after midnight Saturday, as I only get 2 free days hire with LRA. I was informed that when LRA Authorise Turbo, they will authorise replacement car from Enterprise but not Avis where the Accord is from
So after telling them to off politely, they are lending me a FL2 tomorrow till Monday PM, and then I get a Enterprise car after that. What alot of messing me about really.
Good news though, they are sorting Windscreen Monday, and Xenon will also be investigated by LRA.
Does anybody else know of any leverage I can use if needed. I feel I am being technically bullied, and being asked whether the assessories on the D3 were fitted by a authorised dealer or myself. Should have known the Expo rack and RAI, and A Bar would cause the turbo to fail

Some questions you might want to ask them
If they have to be fitted by a dealer why can you get them over the parts counter?
And why are the fitting instructions in the owners section on the GTR?
See if they have any answers to that first. If they still think a-bar, rack & RAI might be a contributory factor ask if one or more of the items or the turbo therefore has an inherent design fault! That should put them back in their box and keep them there I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

They don't have to be fitted by a dealer. However, if they are fitted by a dealer the warranty also covers the accessories.Disco 5 HSE Lux

SJR, I did get a bit annoyed at 1st cos they were inplying to me who was going to meet the cost , I said it certainly was'nt going to be me as :
1. Its under dealership warrenty till April
2. Its under LRA till 2010
3. covered only 4381 miles since purchase in April
I got quite annoyed really as they state it was a diagnosed major componant premature failure that they would'nt pay for but LRA may do
So I told them to get it sorted please, and call me when its ready, and I also informed them of the known fix/clean that does'nt prolong the turbo life but just gets me on the move. I said that this is not going to be accepted and that only a NEW TURBO Unit would I accept. And that I was willing to supply someone to independantly inspect the vehicle before collection.
This got a reply of "dont you trust us"
ermmmmmmmm NOPE!!!!!!!!!
And additionally she tells me that theres a 4-6month waiting list for a new turbo, but they have ways of escilating the source, even worldwide
A Tad worried now

If they are stopping production shifts as they can't sell the cars, who has got all the turbo's then . It can't be lack of capacity surely on the suppliers production line.

Exactly, trying not to make too many ripples with Barretts LR, or LRA cos I dont want to get a recon, or cleaned unit just to get me back on the road. Should have spoken to Yeovil and got LRA to drop there
At least they do there thing with no hassle or fuss put onto the owner

LR state, that an exchange unit MUST be be fitted. Only way you will get a brand new one is if the exchange unit is on back order. But it sounds like both parts are on back order
