Is it my imagination or is my Disco getting quicker ? |
|
After 12 months (her birthday is next week) and 22,000 miles I am pretty sure that our TDv6 Auto is getting quicker and quieter. It might be my imagination or it might be a "looser" engine or semi slick tyres (must get a new set soon) or the use of premium diesel but our 0 to 60 time appears to be significantly better than that quoted in the magazines of 11 or 13 or more seconds.
I haven't got any way of testing this really accurately but it seems to me to be a sub 10 second sprint to 60. Whilst I wouldn't want to encourage reckless driving, I would be interested in hearing if anyone else can clock their 0-60 time at less than 10 seconds (and no she hasn't been chipped !). Mine is 12 months on the 29th, and now has 28500 miles, and is definitly quicker. The tyres have got noisier with a definite droning sensation on smooth road surfaces.
My new tyres (Synchrones) get fitted on Saturday, and I have the 30k service a week on friday.
Still feels like like a new car to me, It still makes me feel good, and it still turns heads.

My 15,000 mile service at Lloyds in Carlisle cost as follows :
Service labour £124
Oils and parts £92
I also had front and rear brake pads replaced at a cost of £62 labour and £90 parts.
All plus VAT.
The dealer collects my car from home (which is an 80 mile round trip) and leaves me a brand new Disco 3 to use for the day. Works a treat for me. Disco 4 TDV6HSE

Are these your 'standard' dealer prices.
I was told by my local dealer (who I no longer use) that the Disco 3 costs about the same as my TD4 cost.
They wanted £370 for that phoning around for my TD4 the best price I could get was £350. I ended up going independant at Nene Overland in Peterborough which cost £160 but don't want to do that when the time comes with the 3.
Might have to make a day of it and travel to one of your dealers

Yes Nene were under half the price of the Leicestershire dealers.
Anyone with a reasonable dealer not a million miles from the home of the PORK PIE I would love to hear about them

Yes there are reasonable dealers, but their prices are still quite high no matter what. I think the average is about £85 per hour of which the mechanic gets £10 per hour.

I think that the £230 that Simon and Sparticus paid is totally fair.
It just annoys me when other dealers are charging £150 more for the same service, and totally by coincidence all 3 Leicestershire dealers are charging withen £20 of each other

OK... £255 inc and everything for the 15K service. Had a quote direct from their computer so I guess it was the standard LR charge.
To be honest I have always found Shukers in Ludlow to be very well priced for servicing.
