Irritating noise from front |
|
Frustration has set in I have a noise thats increased from the front of my D3 at first thought it was the tyres changed them, still there so into the local garage thinking it could be the front diff, they said that it could be the wheel bearings. Dont agree.......... it is louder at 40mph then even loader at 70-80 and its a reverberating, not constant.
Any way the garage have said its a generic 4x4 road noise ha ha......how come none of my othe LR have done, any way any ideas how I can prove the point and pinpoint it and then stick it up there 2009 D3 HSE 2 yrs without one...Great to be back!!

Don't let SWMBO ride in the front and see if the noise moves!
Countrywide might be able to give you some advice as he has just had his front diff done. I believe Land Rover put a listening device on it to establish where the issue was.
As you're local, you could bring it to the next Southern meet and get a few people to have a listen. Countrywide normally goes so he might be able to compare noises! D3 HSE MY05 Auto

So I have now had the local LR guys look at it with their super computer listening device, sound like there is nothing aprt from the norm....but it is still there when I drive it but only occasionally. Can anyone advise me on wheel bearing , how easy are they for DIY. As it seems if you want a job doing then do it ya self? 2009 D3 HSE 2 yrs without one...Great to be back!!

I changed the front wheel bearing a couple of months back.
Pretty easy to do as long as you have a decent hub puller and a 32mm hub socket oh and a torque wrench or bar to go to 350Nm (I used a torque wrench to 300Nm and then a bar for a bit of extra "must be about 350Nm" feeling)
Only held on by 4 bolts, but its tight on the hub too. Bodsys Brake Bible
