The whole mount moves forward and back as you move the seat (pro or con?) and is in a great position to swivel back and forth between driver/passenger. My wife uses it on long trips to surf and reserve hotels while on the move.
One thing to note with this particular RAM mount is that you need a naked iPad without a case and snaps in/out easily. I have been off roading in some very bumpy, jarring situations and have never had any problems with the mount. It has some play but is very stable and stays put.
