Intermittent fault on gearbox/temp etc |
|
Ok she has just passed a new MOT and we have done 20k since the Mont Blanc gearbox full amigos engine overheat incident, never really found out what went on.
She has been running like a dream last night short run to the Chinese takeaway because no one delivers to where we live !! And she went full Amigos limited gears engine fault the kitchen sink re started twice and all hunky dory again.
It's been in to Stuart at Birch 4x4 Liverpool he has read it and can't really find a fault (he rebuilt the gear box 2 years ago and is a Wizard).
He thinks it might be the combination of a wiring or sensor failure he said he has seen a petrol D3 read 150 degrees sporadically on a heat sensor and go into reduced power limited gears as the usual precaution.
OK Iam on 226k now and last MOT work was the cheapest in years.
I want to go to France/Italy later in August but my wife has said unless I get another car she is not going.
I have looked around and feel it's better the devil you know, the recovery from Mont Blanc was nuts though I went in the cab with the driver of the transit car transporter that had seen better days and my wife stayed in the car with my son and daughter and they thought they where going to die !! It's a switch back road all the way back to Chamonix. Iam almost certain a Disco 3 should not go on a Transit car transporter and that was an AA contractor.
So any help guys would be appreciated as I need a Holiday and love going in the Disco it's the ideal tourer for Europe.
See the dash pics attached if I can manage to do it
