Interior temperature sensor change out.

Hi. Over a year or so I have been getting colder and colder and thought it was due to ageing Sad

However I plugged in OBD reader and interior sensor is reading about 8 degrees too high.

I have purchased a new sensor and know it is behind the little grill on the left hand side of.the steering wheel. I have tried gentle prying etc but can't get it off or out.. on close inspection the plastic/foam around seems to be huge.. can someone tell me how to access it? Do I just need more force.

Thanks in advance.

On my D3 it had to be pulled off using considerable force.

The safest way to get to it is remove (don’t need to disconnect wires underneath) the centre console where the gear selector is (loads of videos online, Powerful UK have a good one) and then remove the cover just in front of the screen (again on same videos online) and the trim over the buttons. Then you can remove the side trim which includes the vent for the interior sensor. I’ve done it without doing the above and caused more problems/damage to trim than doing it right. Be careful when you remove to get your hands behind the trim and not tug on the top layer is it can pull the foam from the back board. Also be careful to detach the ignition button cable behind or even remove the button before hand.

Hope that helps and again the PowerfulUK YouTube videos can be really helpful to see how you remove and get to certain trim.
