Interior Rubber Door Seals

Before I set off in the snow (cant wait) to visit my local dealer has anyone out there had a similar problem i.e. the rubber/foam trim that runs around the door aperture breaking down and wearing, primarily around the door catch? Mine has to the point that I now have a hole approx 4 inches long where the door catch is - I'm wondering if this could have been due to the lubricant used on the door catch/lock itself.

I did have a door seal problem, not as you describe, but it was replaced underwarranty woth no Q's asked.....
