Interior courtesy lights issue

Hi all
Just noticed when I opened the disco today that no courtesy lights came on. Asaik they were ok yesterday and car hasn’t moved since.
I’ve checked fuse 57, and bulbs are also ok.
Now here is the strange thing... I can’t turn the front centre light on manually either but I can tun the middle row one on. The rear boot area doesn’t light.
I’ve checked and interior lights are set to auto by pressing and hold8ng the front centre button.

Also the puddle lights in the front doors are coming on when doors opened but not the rear ones. These bulbs are ok as well.
So it looks like it’s confused itself , I’m sure these cars have a mind of their own.

Hard reset I thought BUT I’ve got stop/start so how do I do that with the second battery fitted?
Ideas anyone as to how to return the car to how it was yesterday?

Is this occurring when opening any door or the tailgate? If so check common earth or main supply

Yes, open any door or tailgate and no lights. Press the middle row centre button and light on. Press front row middle button and nothing.
Also when I press and hold the front row centre button in get interior lights auto on dash but the lights don’t flash , as has been mentioning other threads.
Where’s the common earth/ power supply to check.? Also. Worth mentioning that the map reading lights left/right work fine so it shouldn’t be the earth or supply if these are shared, I would have thought.

Ok chaps.
Having now had a chance to read a few more posts I wondered if the battery/alternator was ok. Given the only thing that’s changed recently is that I’ve used the car a bit less as been driving my wife’s polo whilst mom has been in hospital, I thought it worth a look.
My multi meter is showing 12.1v at rest which is low so I’ve put it on charge via my C tex. cars a 64 plate so batter will be coming up to 4 years old.
With car ticking over it’s showing 14.2 v this again seems low but no electrical items/ load on. Can anyone advise whether this seems ok or is the dreaded alternator on the way out.
Starts and drives fine btw, with no error lights or bongs.
Got extended l/rover warranty and haven’t claimed yet, this might be about to change.!
Might be ringing the dealer on Monday.
Wonder if the battery is covered, or is that a wearing part!

14.2V seems reasonable for the alternator output. It seems like a system reset (remove neg terminal then remove pos terminal from battery) touch the two cables together for 10 secs or so (may need a screw driver to reach between the cables). Then reconnect and see if it is okay.

Just had a similar issue...….

One of the loadspace LED lamps had failed and when i replaced it, it came on for a fraction of a second, and then all the interior lamps went out.

Checked fuse 57 (10 amp) in the lower fusebox but it was ok.
Removed the replacement LED lamp and also changed fuse 57 for a new one, as soon as the new fuse went in, all the interior lamps came on Very Happy

Replaced the LED again and all the lamps went dark again Crying or Very sad

Took the fuse out again (still not blown!) and so put it back in again.....still dark.

Cycled the interior lamp auto button several times (overhead centre button on the front courtesy light cluster) including getting out, locking the car and unlocking again.
Next time I cycled the auto switch, everything lit up like christmas, including the new lamp in the loadspace Confused

All very confusing, but all working Rolling Eyes

Thanks Frenchy
Just to conclude this, whilst the car was in for service and mot I asked them to take a look at this. They said that fuse 57 was blown and there must be a short as on replacement it blew immediately. I was thinking trapped wiring by sun visor as this seems common on here.
I’d discounted a blown fuse as the central courtesy lights were still on. These must be on a different circuit/fuse as the fuse had indeed blown. I replaced the fuse and all was well until i pressed the front left hand map light. Immediately the fuse blew.
I replaced the led with a new one, changed the fuse and hey presto all ok now. So the short was in the led bulb.
Five days on and still all working ok.
