Intercooler oil leak

Hi guys,
Black smoke on hard acceleration… no power loss.. intercooler replaced 18 months ago.. silicon hoses fitted each end.. oil is leaking both ends of the Intercooler…have tightened the clips but I am concerned about the amount of oil..
Does this mean the turbo is on its way out ???

If that pic is the intercooler, I’d be surprised if it was replaced 18m ago

Silicon hoses do not seal as well as the original reinforced rubber ones - and are mainly pointless with a VVT as the boost is measured at the inlet manifold, so the big advantage of Silicon hoses (lack of flex = reduction in loss of boost) becomes a disadvantage due to it's inability to form a good seal, especially on the L319 intercooler which has 'non-round' hose connections.
As above, that intercooler looks more than 18 months old - time for a smoke test on the charge air side?

Gently prod the fins with your fingers, if they collapse then that rad is quite old, it certainly looks old.

A good clean will help you identify where the leaks are coming from.

Egrs blanked?

Any stored codes?

As a side note , did find the use of T bolt clamps very useful on the silicone hoses giving a very good way to prevent them from coming off

Bottom intercooler connections I used the wider stainless steel jubilee clips , I also noted down all the clip measurements

Hope that’s useful
