Insurance renewals
Was wondering if many had there renewal yet and if they’ve increased by much plse
Mines due in the next few weeks and holding my breath with baited breath it hasn’t gone up
Saw the tale end on the news where some insurance company got fined for overcharging , can’t find the article as of yet

Renewed 6 weeks ago, changed companies from the AA to Direct Line. I am paying about £20 more than last year. I am £310 protected comprehensive for the D5, £100 compulsory excess, no voluntary excess.
Every year is the same, I do four price comparison checks with Money Supermarket, Compare the Market etc. plus ones not listed like Direct Line, Aviva, then I take into account like for like and what cash I get back via a cash back site and make the purchase.
Very rarely do I renew with the same company unless they are cheaper than the rest. For some strange reason Privilege are for SWMBOs car.
It’s annoying, but as you say, they tend to sting you second year round.

I have Admiral Multi cover, Disco, SWMBOs A1, 21 yr old Vx Adam and house. Last year we paid £1645, renewal came in at £2400
A fairly lengthy phone call got it down to about £1700 but I could get Disco £75 cheaper from confused. Another phone call saying Im taking disco away and its down to £1590.
Its a right pain having to phone every year, and its the same with the AA prices, but some time on the phone is well worth the effort.Joined the BMWX5 45e group

Many thks , it will be my 3rd year with the D3, was with flux and there first year quote on the D3 came in at £1500 fully comp
Then rang A plan, they came in a grand cheaper , was shocked there was so much difference , was with flux for 6 x years when I had my freelander and alas loyalty doesn’t seem to count for anything anymore
But must admit A plan have been very good , always dread the renewal dropping on the mat every year , which should be in the next few days
Have 8 x years ncb now as I always useto drive company vans so that didn’t count
Current is with A plan , £450 protected fully comp , full breakdown cover , 25% write off value, inc legal
Dave T , wow that’s some saving and indeed a royal pain having to phone around
Dundonian, that’s a good idea ref doing comparison and indeed can get a base line for that year
Thks again

A lot will depend on the mods you have and if you want specific off road cover, if the answer is lots/yes then you will need more specialised companies, if no then go mainstream.
I find Heritage best for my circumstances for my defender, heavily nodded and off road useJoined the BMWX5 45e group

Its funny, A Plan always seem really expensive for me.
I've been with Adrian Flux the last few years who have been good. About £400 for the year with all mods covered, business use etc.
Ive not had to claim apart from a windscreen and they were very good in getting it sorted quickly.

Just renewed and walked away from Admiral after 7 years. Amazed that when I transferred from my 5.0 XFR to my D4 it was more expensive, but as I was part way through the year a paid the difference. When the new renewal came through it had got up another £140 to £694. Used a well known search engine and got it down to £392 fully comp with the same benefits ie legal and excesses.. I’m a safe driver with a clean license and 17 years NCB. Admiral were one of the most expensive for me and I don’t get why.

If they don't take tax there it will be somewhere else......perhaps somewhere you don't have a choice (you choose how much insurance you are paying by choice of car, drivers, company etc), so why moan about it?Joined the BMWX5 45e group
