Insurance renewal
Hi All
Just had insurance renewal from Adrian Flux for SWMBO's car and wondered what everyone thinks.
Are we being screwed or is it about right.
Car - 2005 Disco 3 TDV6 HSE, Silver, Insurance value of £15600, although real value is between 10k-13k
annual mileage about 5000
Persons insured - Wife is main driver, No Convictions or Claims and 19yrs Protected NCD
I am named driver, No Convictions or Claims (I have company car so no NCD)
£300 Excess
Renewal cost quoted is £612, up about 8.5% from £564 last year
Gonna try the comparison sites to see what I come up with but interested to know what others think and pay for similar circumstances

An afternoon on the web has has given a best comparable quote so far of £388
with AXA insurance
Surprisingly at last years renewal I couldn't get any lower than £564!

We've just moved TO AF (£275) from swift (£400). Lower xs and protected NCD with business use...
Post code must have something to do with it... our SL post code is decidedly average on crime rates nationally, how's west Yorks?

Definitely could be postcode related,
Just checked on postcode related insurance costs,
Found that my postcode BD18 is rated E, in a scale of A to F.
A being the best
Apparently due to the high number of claims relating to uninsured drivers.

I though the general consensus was that insurance premiums were actually coming down a little at the moment?

I referred the £388 quotation back to Adrian Flux and they agreed to look at it,
I had to e-mail proof of quote to them and they came back with a new quote of
£382.
Fairly happy with a reduction of 230 quid from the original £612
I have to say I usually do the rounds of interweb at renewal time and have never got better
Than about £50 off so there is definitely competition for cheaper quotes out there.

Normally with Privilege but renewing, and was quoted £339 fully comp + 12k business miles + protected no claims + £450 excess.
Just tried Direct Line - website is almost identical to Privilege's. Anyway, all of the above for £295 but that also includes legal protection + 21 days car hire cover to a spec similar to the D4.
No brainer for me.

Even if you drive a company car you should be able to get a statement from your employers insurance stating the NCB you are entitled to... Trouble with insurance is they load insurance on worst case, if I add my 23yo to my policy it's as if we are all 23.... If only it was that easy

Funny thing is... Privilege is owned by Direct Line!
