I'm going through the same pain with my student daughter with her insurance renewal.
She's with GO Girl and they've doubled it from £1500 to £3200 on a new car. When she goes on line its £2700

I found it was a complete lottery when trying to get my kids insured on their earlier cars. Putting me on my daughters insurance as a named driver increased it by huge amount (ive got max no claims, clean license etc etc) but putting her boyfriend on whos a year older than her with 1 claim came in cheaper..
and for my son to insure his car garaged at my house was more expensive than insuring it on my drive.... because the stats showed a high number of thefts from garages (power tools, bikes etc)
Insurance companies do what they want, how they want and charge what they want. You just have to spend ages hunting around for the best deal 2011 D4 XS 305 MY12 - gone but not forgotten
