Insurance, very much worth shopping around! |
|
Our Multi car/house renewal is due to change on the 24th August, we're currently with Admiral and total quote came to £5156
This is for House + 4 cars: SWMBO's little Clio, My Disco, my 5 series and Jack's 3 series (20 year old with 6 points - He pays me for his insurance, which was £3854 on its own )
After spending 1.5 hrs online, I managed to get the total down to £2675 but it means going separately for each car (Got Jack's down to £1880)
Called Admiral back and the best they could do was to bring it down to £4322
So that's a total saving of £1646.90 over Admiral, based on 1.5hrs work, that's and hourly rate of £1098
So it is VERY MUCH worth putting the effort in when it's insurance renewal time Iggy/Ieuan

Just done similar with my car insurance a renewal of £346 became a new policy with another company at £197
I've been a bit lazy the last couple of years when renewal appears few quid either side of the previous years you just let it go through this year decided I must make the effort and was very surprised at the savings
I been chasing savings on my son and daughters policies for a few years as they were new drivers but not my own they have been with the same company for about 4 years during that time there has been some large increases on the renewals but they have always been reduced after a phone call on one occasion my sons renewal was an increase of £55 on the previous year which they then reduced by £210 after a chat "Never keep up with the Joneses. Drag'em down to your level. It's cheaper".

might be a little late as this post was a couple of weeks ago but have you thought about using a broker?
Not only do we have the option of multi policies but we also have the ability to look at our panel of insurers and see how it works best for you, separating the cars, maybe only separating one car from the rest - and you get multi discounts by keeping it all with the same broker regardless of if we keep with one or multiple insurers... worth thinking about as we can look at car, van, bike, home, landlords and other specialist insurances such as boat! We also have selected branches specifically for young drivers, or drivers with not so tasty driving histories

In my view any multi policy means for most people it is to much hassle to change come renewal time so they stay with the same provider and I am sure the providers know that!

Got my D4 insurance last yr with the AA (CIS) for around £350.00 when everyone else wanted between £600-£800 which was actually cheaper than my previous D3. Changed swmbo recently who was with the AA who wanted around £600 for her Evoque renewal but LV did it for £250 with very little difference in the added extra's.
Must say though CIS have made me make a full claim with a £400 excess for my panoramic roof so good job its protected no claims. Sometimes its the small print. D4 HSE Lux MY16 Club Waitomo
