Insulator pads - disco4
Advice please. I have a Disco4 and under the bonnet are two rubber pads - one each side - which have disintegrated. They seemed to fit between the underside of the bonnet and the top of the wing. I have been able to read part of a part number - it ends 002. Can anyone tell me what they are and what the proper part number is. Thanks . Mike

Check you still have the 2 on the bonnet either side, one fell off, the other ripped when I opened the bonnet when it was frosty, frozen to the ones you're looking for, like sponges when wet.

Thank you so much for your post . It inspired me to have a closer look under the bonnet where I found the other halves of the two 'pads' so I can see now how they fit - they seem to have a round projection which will fit into the hole in the bonnet and with a little adhesive they should stay there.
The only problem is do you know what they are formally called - in L R lingo and do you have any idea of the part number. I have been to a local dealer who gave me a part number which was for a totally different item and I also have the repair manual on disc but they don't feature there.
My car is just one year older than yours and I love it and want to keep it up to spec - hence the fuss about this. I have taken a photo of the LH location but given what I found it is really redundant now.
Your description of them ending up like a sponge when wet is spot on but I still want to replace them.
Thanks again for your interest.

Might not as this has "replaces" in the description but might be what you need.

Not that one, I've attached some photos of the foam parts and where they are. The A Pillar one comes fitted to the A pillar cover, got a part number off mine, doesn't seem to come up, LR00187, bonnet one could be 6H2200A40A, doesn't come up, it's purpose in life appears to be keeping the A pllar moulding in place, doesn't stop it moving in the wind, left moulding, bottom grommet won't locate.

Thanks again for taking such trouble.
I have now found exactly what they are ; they are called Plugs (by L R ) and if you ever need to replace yours the part numbers are : CJD500020 and CJD500030. I have just ordered them from the L R Centre here in Liverpool - cost £4.80 each.
My car is a 2015 Disco HSE so I imagine they would suit yours as well - but don't just take my word for it.
Thanks again for being so helpful.

Hello
As far as I can tell the A pillar ones seem to be behind the A pillar and are still in situ. My concern really was just to replace what had fallen off and I should be able to do that when they arrive.

Well done chaps, for posting this. I have been Google searching all day to find out what had happened and what these foam assemblies are named, their part numbers and what they are supposed to look like before they self destructed.
The same thing happened to me today, I had to top up the washer fluid and on opening the bonnet on my 2016 Discovery 4 both parts of the foam had frozen together and consequently ripped apart on both sides of the windscreen. Looks like a bit of design fault to me. Looks like both windscreen side pillar trims and both bonnet 'plugs' need replacing. I have a LR extended warranty so hopefully I can send LR an email with photos and bring it to their attention and get it sorted on the next service if the problem is not immediately detrimental to the vehicle's water-tightness. So once again Thanks. Wish me luck

Typical, same thing has happened to me this weekend when topping up the washer fluid.
Great advice chaps on the part numbers, is it just a case of tearing out the old ones and popping the one in place?

What extra parts......?
On the original ones, couldn't get the bottom clip to locate on the passenger side.
Looking at how these pads fit, the one on the A pillar holds the bottom part of the moulding which is wide & deep in place, and stops the bottom moving about in the airflow, the one on the bonnet assists by jamming it, being foam they have a certain amount of give for alignment and vey good sponges! Well thats my theory.
