Install Sunroof in a D4
Hi All,
just bought a 2013 SDV6 SE in Nara Bronze and I would like to have a sunroof fitted.
My mate keeps telling me I need to go with genuine parts. Has anyone already fitted an after market sunroof or used original parts, any help would be appreciated.
Regards
Eric

The OEM sunroof can only be fitted to the roof panel designed for it. It is possible to fit a whole new roof to achieve this but it would not be cheap and apart from those with a damaged roof I am not aware of anyone fitting one just to gain a sunroof.
I have yet to see an aftermarket sunroof in a D3 or D4.
Any reason why you didn't buy a vehicle with one already fitted?Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

I wouldn't bother if it was me - rarely have mine open (apart from to get rid of the smell of some sneaky fish & chips).

The D3/4 sunroof aperture is pretty pathetic when it is fully open. And they haven't taken great advantage of the fact the glass roof runs all the way back imho (fitting just two glass sections into the roof lining.
Both aspects are a bit dissapointing. (Although there is no question the interior is brighter and airier (is that a word?) with them.2012 D4 HSE for her

After reading all the tales of woe about puddles in the footwell, I'd not have one.

New here & Sorry for opening an old thread..
I'm seriously looking for a disco 3 now for about 3 months and cannot find one here in Ireland so now looking in uk..
My question is can you get the disco 3 with a rear sliding sunroof I need this for hunting purposes, can't seem to find a clear answer anywhere.. If not would it be possibly to fit a rear sliding sunroof if I was to buy one with no glass roof?
Has anyone done it?
I rang one sunroof "specialist" here in Ireland today who told me "It cannot be done".. Something's telling me he just didn't want the job of it and I'd really like a clear answer as its gonna have to be a crew cab open back jeep if it cannot be done, really want a disco 3 tho...
Hopefully some1 here can help and thanks in advance for any useful responses..

I hadn't realised it was that strong, good advice the safety would be the only other issue bouncing across a field standing on the back of that with a lamp with F all to hang on to mite be a task in itself.. Lol..
So has any1 ever put a sunroof into the back of a discovery 3? Something just big enough to stand up through it..

I can't recall ever seeing anybody putting a sunroof in the rear section of the roof but as said just stand on the tail gate, I know it can take two fat lads with ease and why not fit a set of roof bars and position one right at the back to hold onto Cheers Ian

Yeah good idea actually... Suppose it could work okay.. Do a lot of bunny shooting on a large golf course so it would be ideal for that..
