Hi
I have been using the gap diagnostic tool and i have got on well with it.
Today I checked for updates on the ecu's and found several highlights in green which were available to install but when I touch an update to install it just highlights itself then does nothing,do I need to be on a pc to install?,personally I thought the ID tool done it automatically.
The tool is up to date as from Sunday 4th April.
Secondly the sat nav screen comes on, but the actual touch screen to switch options doesn't work.
The buttons work ok but thats about all.
Basically it seems to have lost its ability to sense touch.
I did flash the satnav system hoping to cure the problem with the ID tool and the flash was successful and the screen seemed much clearer and slightly brighter/crisper but still no sense of touch.
Thanks in advance

I think you need to pay for the updates before you can download them. Also, when downloading make sure you've got a charger attached to the battery as they can take a while and cause it to flatten. 1972 Range Rover Classic 2 door V8

Just one or two updates are free, the rest needs a fee to GAP to make them available to you (involves work for them) and then you need to upload it on a pc to your IID...
Be carefull......bottom line is.... . And Pat will warn you beforehand.... if an ECU works ok.... stay away from it....
if you have a problem with an ECU, it CAN help to update it, but doesn’t need to help... Best regards

Thank you motolab and tigerRecovery for your help and as advised will leave things as they are i don't want to change anything as my D3 has no issues at the moment( ) apart from a slow battery discharge that i had over a year ago and has returned.
Minus bloody 5 as I write this and have to go out , hope webasto starts ok.

A common problem with the sat nav screens when the touch stops working is that they get some dirt trapped in the surround and the screen.
Make sure its clean all around the plastic surround.

my screen delaminated, so the touch only worked in the corner.
You could tell it was loose when you pressed it.

The screen appears but it's the touch that's at fault this only happened along with the heater fan when the ECU was replaced in the drivers side foot well on the piller.
All plugs were checked in that area and all wires seem ok .
No fault showing on id tool either, just seems strange that those two items have stopped working after putting back the ICU.
They worked perfectly before.
Still see what happens Thursday afternoon
Thank you all
