Inlet manifold replacement

Have the dreaded split in Lh inlet manifold, figured I’d best do both while I was at it...made a start tonight but not sure if I’m missing something, I can’t get the fuel rail bolts out the rh side they’re fouled buy egr pipes and solenoid is this the norm? Have I missed something?
Also do I need to take the aux belt off to get the timing belt cover off? I’ve undone what I can see but it still seems tight
Back at it tomorrow so it may all become clear but thought I’d ask the wealth of knowledge on here in preparation Bow down

I believe the EGR on the RHS needs to be removed to do that side, or at least loosened to gain enough access. On the left, removing the pipe was enough for me.
To get the timing cover off proper, aid belt off, fan off, and you need to find all the bolts. It’s common to miss a middle bolt and undo a bolt of the water pump instead of the cover bolt - they’re right next to each other. This commonly also results in a snapped/broken water pump if the bolt isn’t replaced and the belt tension applied. Personally I loosened enough bolts to get clearance in the cover without completely removing it.

Thanks Discojeffster excellent info, loosening the cover enough rather than belts etc off sounds like a plan to me

All done! both sides in roughly 2.5 days for £480 rather fiddly but glad it’s done
