What would you do about incorrect advert on eBay.
Hi guys.
Basically In good faith was sent a link to an eBay advert which was for a turbo. Advertised as new oe quality Garret unit. While I don’t doubt for a second the advert leads you to believe the unit is brand new it is in fact remanufactured. It never states this in the advert. Should I complain or is it my own fault for not specifically asking ? I’ve attached a screenshot of the original eBay advert. I’m in 2 minds as to just fit the damn thing and say nothing or kick off with the seller...

Email to see if you can get a discount,
If it was a good price keep it, if not and you can get a new one for the same price, send it back.

I got it for £450 which is around the higher end of recon turbos. I could have got mine done for £350 ! Just the fact the seller tried to advertise as a new unit. Very clever wording really. Apart from the oe quality as I don’t think any original equipment manufacturer would uses a recon turbo. It’s the fact he doesn’t state it’s recon. I should have askedJarrod

Contact the seller.
State you are not happy as the unit was not as described.
If you get no joy complain to eBay.
In my experience 99% of the time they side with the buyer...
The seller may be forced to issue a full refund..
It depends what you want out of it?
I always think.. what do I want and what an I prepared to accept?
Remember eBay Will look at all comments and communication. Do not communicate outside of Ebay.
Hope this helps..1 TR6 Rusting away quietly

Hi,
if it was from a Dealer then I think they should have made it clear that it was reman and maybe ask for a refund.
If it was from a pvt seller then maybe more questions asked as they have not stated incorrectly just maybe not fully
in both cases though it does say ECP receipt for £850ish so what would you get from ECp for that money,
if they show recon then the info was available but ECP show new for that money then more inclined for a refund pvt or dealer, as miss-leading
then again if its paypal/ebay ask them for refund they seem to default to give your money back it just costs the postage then.
good luck what you decide. Transit! 2019

Receipt is dated 17/12/2018 how long do the receipts last ?
Here’s the receipt. He didn’t show it on the eBay add. Also the eBay ad uses a photo of a brand new one not the actual one.

No need to complain, just set up a dispute with the seller, there is a facility to do it, you then have a choice of what you want to do and remember in the case of a dispute eblag are always and I mean always on the side of the buyer not th3 seller and you have something like 60 days to start a dispute in the meantime your cash is frozen and he can’t withdraw it.It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

In the event of a refund from ECP, money will probably be returned to the original card used.
Amazed the eBay seller didn't take this option themselves so doubt it'll be that straight forward.
Thinking at a tangent, how do you know the original item bought from ECP isn't now fitted to the sellers Land Rover and he's cleaned up the old one and sold it off as the new one, with the new ones receipt?Mods:

Hi narpy.
Yes mine and dads thoughts. Why lose £300 odd quid when he could have just returned it. My father being the eternal pessimist is now saying “what if he actually fitted the proper remanufactured one and then had his done on the cheap”
Edit: just noticed what you said off tangent. You two obviously think along the same linesJarrod
