Implications of blanking EGR on a 07 model LR3
Hi, A newbie here. I've got a Engine management light, 4 intermittent faults (P1335, P0490, P0405 and P0401) and occasional loss of power, making me think I have an EGR valve sticking open. I intend blanking my EGR valves and seeing does this improve things but am aware that this will still result in an Engine management light and fault codes on a 07 model. What I want to know is if the EGR is my problem will I see an improvement or is the fact that I have an EU4 engine going to result in a load of other problems cropping up. If it means I restore power and just have the light and fault codes remain, I can live with that until I replace the valve(s). I've spent a couple of hrs trawling the search function but I can't find a definite answer to this.

Yes, the light will stay on, but your lack of power will clear
If you run it for too long like that, it will probably go into limp mode and through up an air flow reading fault also...My D3 Build Thread
Thanks Disco mickey but how long is too long, hours, days, weeks or as long as a piece of string? It's my wife using it mostly and the power loss while driving is freaking her out.

I have an 07 and are blanked off, as well as Deon and we've had no
problems so far. There would seem that LR had changed something
on the latter 07 models to stop us from blanking the EGR's, would
be nice to know from which Vin the change came in. I think Pete
is on it's case.D3 bullbar-spots-roof rack with spots-ladder-long range tank-swing out spare wheel carrier- upgraded tow bar-dash console-internal water tank-duel awnings-drawer system & T T.

Yes VIN is 7A******. Fault code indicates valve A is problem. I assume this is the drivers side valve. Anyone know for sure?

Discoeast, you say ur '07 is blanked. Did you get blanks from bellautos and just install following instructions on their website? Instructions are for a '06. I tried removing the egr today to see if I could free it up, but just couldn't get the last stud off the valve, a nasty T30 hidden right in the back. Anyone got any tips. Do I have to rip out the cooling hoses that are in my way?

riverglebe, I did not remove the EGR's, as they still need to be
plugged in to maintain contact with the ECM. Just fitted blanking
plates between the EGR,s and the pipes going to the inlet manifold.
Then removed the butterfly from the spindel in the manifold, leaving
the electrics in place. As my vehicle was still under warranty, I did not
want the dealer to see the changes I did.
No, I did not use the Bellautos kit, just made my own blank plates.
If I remember correctly, this kit requires the removal of the pipes
between the EGR's, inlet manifold and is supplied with machined
blanks for the manifold, blank plates for the EGR's. So removal
of the EGR's is not required.
For the record I have the A7***** in the S spec model MY07.
At the time of my purchase the TDV6 was available here in,
A6 S spec cloth seats x 7-aircon-drivers window with auto function.
A7 S spec leather seats x 7-climate control-both front door windows
auto function.

Thanks Discoeast. From what you say I might try blanking them. I was trying to remove the egr valve only to clean it, to see whether I could get it working again, as I don't have blanks at moment.
So is this a long term solution for MY07+ cars or does it still give fault lights and limp mode?Volvo XC60 - does all that the D4 should have done

Does blanking off the EGR affect an emission test? Just had mine done at a cost of £400 - my RAC warranty would not cover it.
