I polish my wheels with Autoglym super resin polish. I do it everytime I swap the wheels over to go off-road. When the wheels are off the vehicle its much easier to clean them properly, especially behind the spokes and the back of the wheel.
Mine just clean up like the rest of the paint. Brake dust comes off with the jet wash.
Had to go to TRW today (they make the cailpers, pads and discs for D3/RRS) I had a little moan about the state of my wheels due to their pads/disc and black marks, they said they where not surprised.
I did find out that Alloy wheel cleaners - acid based ones - wash off / remove the silver/grey looking zinc anti rust coatings LR use to protect parts of the brake disc assembly. not much good is it

Yes, apparently that being dilute Hydrochloric is the worst.

That Wonder Wheels stuff wrecked the alloys on my old car. The lacquer peeled and corroded the wheels.
The wheels on SWMBO's car were a mess until I gave them the "Mr Muscle oven treatment" and they are now like brand new. Global Warming.... I'm luvvin it
