I'm such a smart a$$
Driving onto the ferry home last night and there is a panic, guy watching me across the ramp between the link span and the ferry blows his whistle and stops me. Ramp is too steep and he tells me I'm going to rip the back of the caravan off if I move forward any more.
He gets on the radio asking for planks of wood to change the angle of the departure from the ramp, I say, "No need for wood, just watch the back of the caravan, I can lift it up". Guy tells me I don't understand, tells me there is no way to lift the back of the caravan and he has to get wood to reduce the angle of the ramp.
Let me try I tell him.
Lower suspension to access hight and the rear of the caravan lifts up, the guy is gob smacked and let me drive on. I look back and see him telling his mates about my clever Land Rover and signalling with his hands how the caravan tail end lifted up.
SWMBO then asks me how I knew how to do that, told her its a Land Rover thing, you won't understand. Dale

I like it, as long as it returned to normal height later of course, which not doing so would also be a Land Rover thing! Andy

Used to have to do a similar thing when I had the caravan on the D3 & 4.
I had to use a combination of 'off road, normal & lowered' heights when I had to reverse my caravan down my sloping drive onto the flat section.
Great sense of achievement ...... almost like piloting the space shuttle. ...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

For some reason I always thought the Disco would throw up a fault if you did that. I thought it would interpret resistance to lowering as being grounded Went for a job as a human cannonball. Not the right calibre.

Not much resistance when I have to bring everything SWMBO thinks we might just need. Disco & Caravan fully loaded at the minimum, they both might be overloaded but I never weigh the stuff, just keep stuffing it in. Dale

Few of us went wild camping at Marlow a few years back, there was a mound of soil at the gate entrance and the only way to get over it with the TA vans was to raise suspension initially and then as you got over it to lower suspension to stop front and back of van digging inMY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange
