Depreciation whats that?

The best way to avoid that word is do not sell. I will keep my Disco3 for years what ever it costs. I have two other cars that I have had for 21 years and 17 years (40 years old) and they are probably worth more than I paid for them.

With the help and advice i have had from this site, I am not concerned about what happens when the warranty runs out.
I only wish there had been forums like this to help me in the past.

10forcash and chesters have it right. If you buy a D3 (or any Land Rover) as an 'investment' (unless it's a Defender here in the states - where the price keeps rising) you can safely assume that it's costing you far more than you'll ever recover at resale time... unless you never sell it.

My old D1 I planned to keep until holes rusted in the roof and the frame fell out from under it. I never tired of it. Unfortunately, after years of fixing old broken bits (it was in almost perfect condition mechanically), my plans were ruined by a thoughtless F-250 Super Duty Pickup driver who managed to smash it beyond reasonable repair with me still inside.

The downside of keeping a car that old is that the insurance companies won't give you much for your loss if it's so much as dinged up in the wrong spot, much less crumpled on both wings and bonnet.

Land Rovers are for long-term permagrin and their substantial utility as transport almost anywhere - if you look at them in terms of economics, you're going to be sadly disappointed.

I now have my Mantec plate on, and have fitted my Tasmod sill plates. The Permagrin just gets better, it looks the dog bits.

Sell it never, what no one could aford it.

I'm waiting for a call to pick up my son in town, can't wait for telephone to ring, so I can get it out the garage again.
