iidtool BT firmware update problem
Update is at the end of the post - seems that the issue is related to Win7 / driver/ updater.
Hi all, posting this here as GAPdiag support will be back on Monday earliest - and I would need to have the IIDtool working now
I have initiated the firmware update: followed the instructions - removed the updater, installed the new one, and initiated the firmware update.
However, since the new device driver failed to properly install, the process was terminated. I had to reboot windows (Win 7 Home edition) - then the driver properly installed itself and the device has been recognised in Device manager.
The problem now is that IIDtool is stuck in bootloader, IIDtool updater finds it however comes up with following error message.
How can I complete the firmware update now? Is there a way how to finish the process once it has been interrupted?

then results in this:

UPDATE: Did a fresh install of the IIDtool updater 2 on an old notebook (with Windows XP) - went with no issues, after IIDtool connecting it identified the device (still showing previous firmware) - so I pressed firmware update and it went through to the end.
Tried connected in the car, both Ipad and iphone (both with the updated app) connect well and everything seems OK.
the only issue remains why the notebook with the Win 7 (which was perfectly fine for the IIDtool when the previous version has been updated) - doesnot connect to the device correctly (ends up with the same error as in the first post). But this is not an urgent issue now The tool works now with the car 2013 D4 TDV6 S; Baltic Blue; IID Tool BT

Try a different USB cable, the 'best' one you have.
If this does not work then reconnect the USB but without the updater running so that you are only powering the device. In this state try to connect to the tool via the BT app and see if you can communicate with it or see what errors come up.
This all presumes you have done the traditional power everything down and start again stuff.

+1 what Robbie says
I had a similar issue, changing cable resolved the issue temporarily, cleaning the usb connector on the tool itself ensured the problem didn't return
Mine doesn't like cheap crappy use leads either, mostly the ones that come with cheap crappy Chinese USB products, I've just binned any that I've used that don't work with it and now use a decent USB cable and all is well

Hi Robbie - thanks. Tried 2 other cables (in various USB ports), also the one that came with the device itself that I used for the initial setup back in december with no issues (and not used that cable since then), still the same outcome via the uploader software. It finds it on COM 4 then results in the same message as shown in the first post.
When connecting via bluetooth i am getting following screens:
and the when I select it:
I think the device is now waiting for firmware to be pushed there or somehow initialised - however I do not know how to do it if the updater does not do it on is own.2013 D4 TDV6 S; Baltic Blue; IID Tool BT

Ok, if it was mine I'd be tempted to connect the tool to the vehicle and see what happens. Don't try and flash anything or edit CCFs just yet though.
Did you also try a different USB socket on your PC / laptop?Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

Glad it is sorted.

You are not the first to have such a hiccup and it always seems to be a bad USB port or cable that only manifests itself when updating the tool. A can of air duster fixed the erratic performance of one of my USB ports and I know one or two have had to clean the USB port on the tool itself when the dreaded fluff gets inside. The tool could benefit from a rubber plug to keep the USB port clean.
My tool gets thrashed to death when it comes to updates. I have done them continuously for hours trying to trigger failures.

I had a update error with mine not that long ago- failed halfway through - but a disconnection and reconnection sorted it.
They seem pretty bullet proof when it comes to recovery Mark.

I've had the same problem too with the last update. Just changing to another USB port on the laptop fixed it, and I'm running Win 7 32bit.D4 MY14 XXV - RLD/IID BT

Could it be that the USB that doesn't work is the new hi-speed USB?
My new laptop has one hi-speed and 2 that are the older slow USB version?
Just a thought.

Following a clarification from Pat@Gap - the issue has been resolved on my Win7 (due to regional settings for Slovakia it didnot worked well originally). To rectify:
-----------------------------
This is a known problem caused when windows is set to Asian/other language. To fix this:
- Control Panel->Region and Language->Administrative->Language for non Unicode program->Change system locale
- Note the current setting for you to set it back later.
- Change it to English United State, like so:
- Reboot the PC and try to update the tool.
------------------------------
so after reboot with the changed setting - the Updater connected to IIDtool with no issues.2013 D4 TDV6 S; Baltic Blue; IID Tool BT
