Lights pulsing/flickering HDC
Evening all,
Had the "HDC fault" and still have flickering/pulsing lights, after hours of forum searching and working my way through possible problems I'm now looking at pulling the alternator.
The battery was original but still showing around 12.5v cold and alternator putting out 15.4 cold and sitting at 14.2 there after even under full load.
fitted a new exide 017 and that sorted the hdc
Still have the flickering lights, sometimes throughout the whole journey other times just for the first 5mins or so. Have checked the body earth and read for fault codes, just the one (ventilation flap)
Higher rpm tends to smooth the pulsing, I'm thinking that the alternator has a bad diode and this is causing the fluctuation.
Only had the motor a week so unsure of alternator history etc, any thoughts would be very much appreciated.
Thanks
Nick

Should add that I've also changed all front bulbs and have d4 led rears.
Also did a hard reset to no avail.

This started to happen to me about 4 weeks before my battery let me down. It turned out to be a failing alternator that killed the battery.
Alternator and battery replaced and not a single flicker since.
I used a Bosch autocenter to diagnose and do the work. Great service.Transmission flush by Geoff.
EGR blanked
