Iid tool

Right gonna but this tool I think but A few questions

1) is this the best tool for the discovery 3
2) as I will want to alter the ccf Config files do I need the Bluetooth one
3) what’s the difference between the iid and faultmate on eBay as faultmate seems £75 cheaper

Thanks a lot in advance

I've got the IID.
You will need Bluetooth if you haven't got the 4x4screen in the middle of the dash and cruise control/ stereo buttons on the steering wheel.
I got the impression that the IID was easier to use....I've certainly found it very easy

Don't forget you will need to register the tool for you vehicle for £25. Just go on the gap website.
Keep an eye out in the parts for sale section, they come up for around 300 normally used

1. IMHO, yes Thumbs Up
2. No. BT makes it easier since you can do it with an iPad or iPhone (or android). The nifty thing with the BT is you can graph the live values and have your “friend” look at them while you’re driving if you’re trying to capture something funky and need to reproduce it
3. No idea. I got last summer an IID BT, haven’t ever used any other OBD2 reader on the D3.

If you look at threads most people tend to say IID or IID BT here. The support is excellent, the device does what they advertise and the manual is fairly good.

There was a group buy, I think, at some point here. You might want to check it out if you’re looking for a reduced price. Or buy one off someone who doesn’t need it anymore. Transferring ownership and a new VIN was $25 (or something very reasonable I believe).

James, speaking as a non bluetooth IID tool owner, I can confidently recommend you buy the bluetooth variant.
Don't get me wrong, the non BT is perfectly as capable but you need a damn good memory ( and I haven't Rolling Eyes ) to recall how to use it, it's not as user friendly as the BT version, and IMO, it's definitely not as well supported by GAP with updates etc. but you will get the same technical help. Wink

Spend the extra, buy the BT version, you will get what you pay for. Thumbs Up

I'll second that having just tried to navigate my BT unit on dashboard (flat battery on phone that has IID tool installed)
