Also more maintenance features.... like parking brake adjustment, etc..
Simple look on the GAP site, everthing is there in the manual...Best regards

I had a hawkeye for my D2 it was ok but there was very little in the way of a manual or even interpretation of the codes or diagnosis being thrown up

+3 the iid tool is much more powerful than the Hawkeye.
I had a Hawkeye for my Disco2 I bought it on the basis it could be upgraded to use on a D3 by purchasing an additional unlock code, it even had a picture of a D3 on the box.
When I got my D3 I emailed Bearmach to buy the upgrade code, and got the answer "sorry we don't support that any more you have to buy a new unit"..... great service !2005 TDV6 SE Auto

The general consensus it seems is that gap is vastly superior, but I'm also struggling to justify the cost!
Wondering if it's easy to get the dealer software and do it via laptop instead?

Could well be but I bet that’s not cheap either. Local garage will charge £150 to adjust ecu to none working egrs. I bet you can’t get it that cheap. Aldo you’d need a lead to connect laptop. .

Become a dealer, pay your fee’s to LR an there you go....
Since they invested (dealers that is ) in buying that software, it seems logical to pay for it...
Same with GAP, i bet it did take some time and money to develop their tool, and since they use / deliver you original LR ecu software also, think they do not get that for free either...Best regards

Do you mean find a copy of the dealer software on the internet, which is quite obviously pirated? As a former software company owner I recommend you buy a iid tool, support the Company that developed it, when you sell it at the end it will have cost you almost nothing.David

He will probably use the Iid Professional, they cost several £k ISTR and even he has to pay for the extra software he installs. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Hiya
Plus 1 ref the iid , Funny u mentioning ref the software off the internet as heard off the grape vine ( not from hear) 3 x people doing just that
They connected it to there discos and everyone of them bricked there motors
Alas didn’t hear the full outcome but dealers were involved and something about having to replace an expensive module

you have to choose:
-do you want a code reader? buy any ODB2 reader.. lots of examples here on the forum, use search on code reader.. can be found for 50 or 60 quid..
-do you want to do adjustments, implement "new" functions, add "stuff" (edit CCF thus) read Land rover specific codes, you need a IID (there are others, also equal expensive, but can do a littlebit less
simple IMHO
or hire the function when needed... (every time )Best regards
