Its amazing how warranty expiry focusses the mind 8)
I have an intermittent problem. The heater/aircon blower has started to work when it wants to. It sometimes does not come on from a cold start (first notice the cold feet after a few miles), or like yesterday it just stops blowing mid journey (got steamed up on the M6). There are no warnings, the auto button has the 2 lights on, and if you manually turn the blower know the leds operate but there is no wind coming out of the vents. If I randomly turn the knob a few times and thump the dash, it usually starts up again!
Also, and this could be connected, the sat nav is shutting down on me mid journey. It did it twice yesterday. Driving along the motorway, listening to radio. Sat nav screen goes black for about 5 seconds, then comes back on with the AGREE button to press as though I had just started up. The radio carried on normally.
I did have to replace a fuse last week, I accidentally shorted the cigarette lighter socket and blew the fuse. I only had a 25 amp spare, instead of the 15 amp. Could this affect it?

15 to 25, come on Gareth, you shoudl know how much hotter the wires could get if they'r eonly rated to 15.
What do you have plugged into the socket (DO you have anything plugged into it when it does this?)
Have you tried the total power removal of the battery & then short pos & neg terminals (D3 side, not the battery!)
I remember someone having the same problem with the satnav, but no mention of the aircon. Have you had the dash apart recently, could it be as simple as a connection not made 100%? Bodsys Brake Bible

Only a phone charger plugged in. I managed to blow the fuse when I unplugged my CB and the plug came apart in the socket, shorting it out.
I must have disturbed a plug, it is very tight on space behing the glove box, and there are lots of wires running in front of the fuse box. I'll go and have a look at lunch time.

I had a ford with blower issues, would work at some speeds but not at others. That was resolved with a hardware fix, a new bit of plastic and metal (sort of the size and shape of a credit card) that provided the electrical resistances for the different blower speeds.
As to the satnav issues, you don't think it might be related to the upgrade we performed at the pub meet, do you? That ones not going to be reversible now, god knows where your satnav disc is by now.

Maybe something got zapped before the fuse went ?
Might be worth pulling off the dash panel to see if the connectors are tight - need re-seating. Or to see if there is nay visible damage.

Rob, I am kind of hoping that the sat nav upgrade hasn't shafted it Although there are plenty of owners who have done this without problems.
BTW I don't know what your talking about, I know exactly where my old disc is

Could it be a question of the D3 not being updated with the latest software to match the new disc? Unlikely but it doesn't sound like a mechanical problem either. Brute force and ignorance, the D3 does the rest.

I've LED brake lamps, they have been in for 3yrs. I had a poke around the wiring behind the glove box this evening. There are lots of wires and plugs, which would have been disturbed by me fitting the fuse. I gave it all a good technical 'shake'. I have just been into Manchester and back, and it seems ok so far. Hopefully just a loose connection.
