Under EC Block Exemption, manufacturers are unable to insist that service is carried out by your dealer. As long as the correct service schedule is followed and the correct parts are used, the choose a reputable specialist.
Having made a sizeable commitment and having not taken delivery yet, a few nerves are understandable.
But, these are brilliant cars and with the family and towing needs that you describe, it's the most useful car I've ever comes across - which makes it extremely easy to like! :

continued indecision.......
so I NEED another Land Rover...
i could buy the nice silver 30k car in the for sale section...seems like a lovely car.
there is also a high mileage 2013 D4 http://r.ebay.com/E6USfI on which i would appreciate your comments.
i could obviously just buy the nice blue one with a facelift in the For Sale section too and same myself 20 odd grand, but it must need LandRoverLove right? and i dont really have time at the minute.
i could say all that, and buy an old 110 to knock around in, but finding a decent one is a challenge.
decisions decisions.... i am bloody well annoying myself![/url]

Having been away from a Disco for a while now (had a D3 for 8 years) I'm thinking of getting a 2014 (or later) D4 with the 8 speed auto and facelift.
How are these at higher mileage? thinking specifically of the gearbox, do they judder like the 6 speeds or are they trouble free? (within reason of course)
Looking to spend around 14k and expecting a 2015/15 with 90-100k on the clock

Don't hear of many problems with the 8 speed.
Two years ago I bought a 2014 D4 Commercial with 120000 miles on it, gearbox was silky smooth with nothing in the history to suggest that it had had its gearbox oil changed. I performed a DIY double flush but now 8 speed flushes are common place I shall think about getting it flushed. Two years on it is still super smooth although I don't do big mileage.Stu

I purchased a D4 MY12 with 8 speed auto gearbox about 4 years ago with 120k on the clock, now has about 165k on the clock and (touching wood and typing quietly) never had any problems with the gearbox, it still changes up and down smoothly with no judder Uncle Ray's spare wheel protector

I know I’m mentioning a D3, but my worries were the same as the OP.
I’ve wanted a D3 for years, the internet has kept me away from them, unfortunately. I decided to just bite the bullet - I viewed a few and bought more with my heart than my head; the desire was too great.
Now I’m 4 months and 5,000 miles into ownership - I’m completely hooked. In hindsight I wish I bought a more expensive one with more tech, but that was after getting the initial nervous ownership out of the way.
I’m here for the long haul 😎 and I know once the D3 dies, I’ll be moving onto a D4.
I’m an average person on the tools - so I do the basics (oils/fluids/suspension/brakes/etc)
But I won’t touch timing belts.

Well after some considerable dithering I took the plunge and completed a [socially distanced] purchase of a 2014 D4 XS. 45k on the clock and drives beautifully and just a bit quicker than my old 2005 D3 I must say!
Just need to work out how to activate the strip DRL rather than the round one - can't see how to in the manual as yet.
Dogs seem keen - they seem to prefer it to my 1965 series 2A for some reason??

Very nice!
Re the headlights, unfortunately you will need to replace the headlights with Xenons (non adaptive) to get the LED DRL's.Stu

Sure they're a straight swap but like the D3 expect it will need a CCF edit to tell it that Xenons are fitted.Stu

Definitely need ccf edit but they are a straight swap. No loom change unless adaptive are required, then it gets complicated. Much missed Geoff did mine.
