I POD POWER

I have just re read all I can see on the subject of the i pod conectivity into the audio system via the conecting block in the footwell.

I am giving it a go to free up the aux socket in the rear.

But I also have the power lead into the socket in the rear console via a 12v plug. Inside this plug there seems to be a small circuit board with a small red led to show the power on and a fuse. Can I cut off the plug and attach direct to the power wires inside the console with a inline fuse?

All I want to do really is have the back of the car console tidy without all the wires plugged in and on show.
