I love my V8!
Took the family out today in my first good run in my V8
Five adults on a 200mile round trip for a day out to Whitby, plus food and plenty of winter clothing
One in the rear, rear seats, spread out and lounging, two in the middle seats with the cool bag between them - in charge of the food
Fast, quiet and comfortable, did everything from single track country roads complete with a nice Ford crossing, to heavy town traffic, fast motorway cruising and steep hill climbing , did the lot without complain
Fuel consumption just a heavy price to pay against a diesel version, but wouldn't swap it all.D3 V8 with active rear diff

Yep.... its was a no brainer for me.
I think a chap on here bought a mint D3 and the engine went bang after a few thousand miles. That it was it for me so paid a high price for the first silver D3 V8 that came up for sale.
6500miles on and it hasn't missed a beat. Regular round trips to Wales and up to Kielder in December which will add another 1000 miles or so.

Travelling up on the Saturday .
Favourite part of the country, probably more so than the Lakes. Oddly I can understand the dialect as well. SWMBO struggles .

On V8's, get the plastic PVC valve and coolant T plastic breather valve replaced for good measure. They are cheap and worth checking on and replacing. You can do them yourself. Also clean throttle body.

SafariDave is right on the money, the parts you want are (I did the same very recently):
PCV valve right valve cover, LR003380
Valve, air bleed ("T-piece"), LR027661
Also check if the front differential vent/breather has been replaced (old looks like a stick, new one looks like an umbrella handle (curved)), part is LR019450
Also if history is not fully known I would:
- flush transmission with a machine
- change front, rear differential and transfer case fluids
- at least take a critical look at the brake lines (swap every 6 years), if you’re replacing you should change the brake fluid at the same time
- I changed power steering fluid, LR says fluid is lifetime.... YMMV.
- look at the auxiliary belts and replace if they haven’t been or if you’re unsure
- basic stuff: engine oil, antifreeze is ok, etc.
- fill AC with refrigerant
- make sure your battery is in a good condition
For the V8 you’ll find a nice maintenance schedule made by British Atlantic that I’ve been following. It includes some extras compared to LR’s own. Go to roverparts.com, register and download. Schedule is in miles so I had to translate it to km for myself

On highway cruising using cruise control at 65mph I can get 23mpg, on my NYC D3.
On our Cali D3 using the cruise control driving at 70-75mph we can get 24-26mpg.
Use ur cruise control find the sweet spot mph for great mpg.

Great vehicles.
We get about around 13-14mpg on local running around but if we get the odd run in pushes the average up to nearer 15mpg.

Is that US or Imperial? Best I have ever achieved on petrol is just over 22mpg imperial (18 US) driving like a granny. and have never found cruise control can do better perhaps not enough dead flat roads.==================================
